Vacation Rental Description
Our beautiful, recently built, Canadian-log home offers spectacular views of the Indian Peaks Range, beds for an extended family of 14-16, a fifteen-minute drive to Winter Park/Mary Jane ski resorts, and a 45-minute drive to Rocky Mountain National Park. The skiing/boarding--both alpine and Nordic--are world-class, and the same can be said in summer of the hiking, fly fishing, rafting, and mountain biking. Tile and hard-wood floors, full kitchen, Oriental rugs, leather sofas, jacuzzi bath, wall-to-wall carpet in bedrooms, and fluffy beds combine with the log interior, exposed log beams, and giant picture windows to give a combination of comfort and luxury with an authentic Southwestern mountain feel. The house is warmed by the fun and love of many hours of our family and friends.  
 
House Layout: The house’s square footage is a bit over 3,000, and here is the layout: 
 
Upstairs bedroom 1: queen bed + sofa, views of the mountains 
bedroom 2: queen bed + single bed, views of the mountains 
hall: single bed (disguised as a sofa) and upstairs full bath 
 
Main floor master bedroom: king bed, private bath, French doors to deck 
living room: two sofas, one short and one full-length 
 
Lower floor bedroom 1: two bunk beds, tops are singles, bottoms are twins 
bedroom 2: two singles 
lounge area: 1 full-length sofa 
plenty of carpet space for sleeping bags, downstairs full bath 
 
Location: Fraser is just north of Winter Park, about two hours drive from Denver International Airport. All roads, from the airport to our driveway, are plowed in winter. 
 
Personal Information: Jeff Franklin is an English professor at the University of Colorado Denver. His wife, Judy Lucas, is the Administrative Director of the Denver Waldorf School. Their son, Tyler, is studying Mechanical Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology, and daughter Emma will be attending the University of Colorado Boulder starting in fall 2010.

    • Though we realize that many people now expect cable TV and wireless internet, we purposely have neither at our mountain home. We savor a good deal of silence, reading, natural beauty, and outdoor activity. We have a CD/Ipod player for music and a large monitor with DVD player for watching films.

    Season Rate
    		  Low Season Price: $1,500 per Week
      High Season Price: $2,750 per Week
         

    Holiday-season (December 19-January 3) Rates: $550/night or $2750/seven-day week, three-night minimum. Ski-season Rates: $400/night or $2000/seven-day week, two-night minimum. Non-ski-season Rates: $300/night or $1500/seven-day week, no minimum. We also ask for a $300.00 cleaning/damage deposit in advance. If you leave the house reasonably straight and clean--not pristine, just as we have left it the previous weekend--and there is no significant damage, then we return the entire $300. After a dozen rentals, we have returned all previous deposits in their entirety.
