This Mediterranean-style home with a view of Alcatraz lies right in the center of the fashionable Marina district, just one block from the expansive Marina Green and its walkways along the bay, and just two blocks from lively Chestnut Street and its shops and restaurants. Built on three levels at the apex of a three-street intersection, the unique layout of this home allows every room to have lots of natural light. The home is well decorated with lively colors and tasteful art. 
 
The central location in a relatively flat section of San Francisco enables visitors to either walk or bike to Fisherman's Wharf, Fort Mason, the Palace of Fine Arts and the Exploratorium, chic Union Street, the boats surrounding the San Francisco Yacht Club, the renovated beach recreation area of Crissy Field, the promenade to Golden Gate Bridge, as well as the Presidio with the new Walt Disney Family Museum. The house itself has views of Alcatraz while from the bay just a block away one can appreciate vast vistas of the entire region north of San Francisco. 
 
The house can accommodate a large family even as its three levels allow for separate "play areas" for some sense of internal privacy. The garage is fully outfitted with a foosball table and a ping-pong table. Bicycles and rollerblades are available.

The bedroom layout is as follows: On the top floor, there's a master bedroom with a king-sized bed and another bedroom with a full/double-sized bed as well as a fold-out child-sized futon. On the main floor are three bedrooms, each with a full/double-sized bed. On the bottom level, the office has a full/double-sized fold-out futon, as well as another twin bed. There's also a portable child's bed (OK if they're <6 yrs) and a crib, if needed. Note that there's one-car parking in the garage, but it's a smaller 1920s garage and larger trucks and minivans just won't fit (though all other vehicles should be fine). If you need additional parking, the public (free) lot at the Marina Green (just a block away) is available during the day, and you can park anywhere on the surrounding streets during the evening (during the day they have a 2-hour limit).

The Marina district is in one of the few relatively flat (i.e. walkable) areas of San Francisco, right along the most picturesque part of the bay. There are several nice neighborhood commercial streets just a couple of blocks away, and we're quite near to (among other places) Fisherman's Wharf, the Exploratorium/Palace of Fine Arts, the Presidio (with the new Walt Disney Family Museum), and the Crissy Field promenade along the bay all the way to the Golden Gate Bridge.  
 
Most other sights in the city (including Golden Gate Park, with the striking new De Young Museum and Academy of Sciences) are within a 10-minute drive, and our proximity to the Golden Gate Bridge makes trips to the North Bay (Muir Woods, Napa Valley, etc.) quite convenient.

We ask for a deposit of about 1/3 of the rental amount in the form of a check that we hold uncashed until the rental has been consummated and we can see that the place hasn't been reduced to wreckage, at which time we either return it to you or rip it up, as you prefer. (Fortunately, we haven't yet had an issue with the deposit). The actual rental amount itself we ask for a few weeks before you arrive
