Vacation Rental Description
For the first time in over 100 years the Historic Hillside Ranch is now open to the public as a vacation rental. It started out as a working cattle and alfalfa ranch around the turn of the century and continued operations until the late 1970's. From then, until 1994 it fell into semi abandonment and disrepair until I purchased the property and began its restoration.

Because of dam construction in 1950 and the subsequent flooding of the town of Kernville, two of the three houses were moved onto the Ranch property. These two 1930's style ranch houses have now been completely restored with all the modern conveniences but still retain their original character and charm. About 500 trees have been planted around the houses along with extensive lawns and general landscaping.

This sanctuary offers peace and quiet along with unobstructed views of the lake and mountains. By day, enjoy watching your kids play volleyball, horseshoes and soccer, and by night roast marshmallows at the outdoor fire pit.

The Hillside Ranch has the illusion of remoteness, but is only a quarter mile away from a market and gas station, and 20 minutes away from Kernville, and only two and half hours north of Los Angeles.

If you are coming or going from Las Vegas via HWY 178 you will be driving right by. Stop in, get a little shut eye and the view ain't bad either.

    • The Ranch is about 20 minutes away form Kernville, Kernville is the main town for river rafting companies, restaurants, ranger station and various shops.

    RESERVATION AND CANCELLATION RULES For reservations a $100. deposit per house is required, then at 14 days prier to your arrival the balance is due. ***Cancellations must be received 14 days in advance of the arrival date, or your deposit, will be forfeited unless the property can be re-rented. Upon occupancy of the home there will be no refunds for early departure or fewer guests. There is a $50. fee for all cancellations. You can pay with a personal check or use a credit card with PayPal, I will send you a link
