She commissioned George Washington Smith to build Ravenscroft in 1920. Smith is synonymous with classic Santa Barbara architecture and in 1922 he designed "Ravenscroft", a magical and timeless work of art that has been held in high esteem and published as a local architectural marvel. It is one a handful of original classically designed Santa Barbara Estates still in existence. The Santa Barbara Four Seasons Biltmore was built by the same architect with the same design and materials.
