Catuama is a fishing village 75 km north of Recife, situated on a promontory between the Atlantic Ocean and the river Goiana. The journey from Recife airport takes 1.5 hours, and 3 hours from Natal airport - transfers can be arranged if required. The beach is unspoilt, with very little tourist development, and the few bars and small shops are run by local families. The bars sell tasty and well prepared home-made seafood, and the shops are mini-markets with most basic provisions. The village is very quiet and perfectly safe, with virtually no crime. Boat trips and sailing is available. Ponta de Pedras is the nearest town 4 km away, with a bank, post office, health centre, pharmacy and supermarkets. Fresh vegetables, fruit and fish can be bought from the market. Goiana and Itamaraca are nearby historic attractions
Catuama has a very stable and comfortable climate with temperatures between 24-32 deg C. Rainy season is Jul/Aug.
