Vacation Rental Description
Casa Mariposa Blanca or House of the White Butterfly was once part of the XVI century Franciscan monastery, belonging to the Cathedral of Cuernavaca. This Cathedral was one of the first cathedrals erected in the New Spain by the Spanish conquistadors. Many original features of the colonial times are present in this house, from stone floors, stairs, niches, tiles, doors and chimneys. Family Treviño (present owners) have maintained the charm of this house by furnishing it with typical Mexican furniture, handicrafts, paintings, Talavera tiles, antiques and lots of flower pots and greenery.
The house is located right in the middle of the historic centre of Cuernavaca on a small cobbled street, recently renamed after a local painter: Calle “Jorge Cazares”. This street is closed to vehicles and only the cars of the bishop and residents of Casa Mariposa Blanca are allowed through. The house faces south and is in between of the Bishop’s residence and the well-known Brady Museum. In front of the house is a small park called: Jardin Revolucion.
