Vacation Rental Description
Tyas cottage is fully equipped. It has 3 bedrooms, a spacious living room, dining/hall, and kitchen area. There is broadband access for your own laptop and satellite TV. Its antique furniture includes a Georgian mahogany 4 poster bed with a carved ceiling. On the ground floor, as well as a farmhouse kitchen and hall, the cottage has a twin-bedded room, shower room/W.C. and a spiral staircase to first floor. Relax in the lovely spacious beamed first floor sitting room with its wood-burner. Other bedrooms are the double bedroom with a 4' 9" four-poster bed and en-suite bathroom/W.C and the twin-bedded room also with an en-suite bathroom/W.C.

We're located in a small hamlet within an idyllic local beauty spot on the site of the first water-powered mill in the Colne Valley, near Slaithwaite and 7 miles from Huddersfield. The holiday cottage and adjoining gardens (featured in the Magazine 25 Beautiful Gardens) are surrounded on three sides by woodland with Merrydale Clough to the east. Slaithwaite railway station is on the Newcastle to Liverpool route and the M62 is also within 5 minutes journey time. The nearby canal and Standedge Tunnel have been recently restored, and Tyas Cottage is within walking distance of the Pennine Way and Marsden, home of the Riverhead Brewery. It is south facing within the sheltered, wooded valley, Merrydale, and at the end of a secluded cul-de-sac. This is an ancient, cobbled pack horse road and, apart from the sound of falling water, the property is quiet and rural.

    There are 3 price bands, low season (£320), mid season (£420) and peak season (£600). Prices quoted are inclusive for 2 persons for 7 nights. Any persons above 2 will be charged a supplement of £70.00, regardless of the length of the stay. If you want to book for less than a week, the rate is 70% of the full week price for 2 or 3 nights, 80% for 4 nights, 90% for 5 nights and 100% for 6 or 7 nights. Short breaks are only available during the low season (unless part of the week has already been booked. See website (www.yorkshire-holiday.co.uk) for full details. Please add £25 per pet per booking. Sorry, but I have to pay a blanket £25 fee for each online booking and have decided to pass this on to you! Prices quoted are for booking fees sent by cheque. Heating, logs for first fire, electricity, linen and towels are all included.

    Me in a pod next to the millpond 5 star accommodation in beauty spot (site of 17th century fulling mill)

    Tyas Cottage is one of 3 dwellings nestling in Merrydale Valley on the site of the first water powered mill in the Colne Valley. Guests enjoy walking up the steep path on the old packhorse route through the woods to 'The Rose & Crown' where hearty meals are served. It is a 20 minute walk down the clough to Slaithwaite, a delightful old village that now boasts an artisan baker and his Finnish wife whose breakfasts are remarkable (they also run courses in making their extraordinarily delicious breads. Being near to the Pennine Way and National Trust Marsden Moor, walking is obviously a popular activity. However, despite its rural location, Tyas Cottage is also remarkably near the huge range of urban attractions - Manchester, Leeds, Bradford, Halifax and even Sheffield are all within easy travel distance. Something for all the family and one visit is never enough.
