Baxby Manor is a historic, picturesque North Yorkshire retreat. Built in 1308 and mentioned in the Doomsday Book, our most attractive North Yorkshire luxury holiday cottage is full of character with many original features, including inglenook fireplaces, oak beams and an authentic 16th century bread oven! Baxby is set in unspoilt countryside on the edge of the North York Moors National Park and just a short walk from the village with its shop, pub and 12th century church. The farm's 110 acres of fields, hedgerows, lanes, woods, ponds and stream provide opportunities for wildlife watching, coarse fishing, walking or simply enjoying wonderful views. Our holiday cottage is an ideal base for walking, cycling and touring North Yorkshire's countless attractions; within half an hour's drive of York, Harrogate, world of James Herriot at Thirsk, Castle Howard, Beningbourgh Hall, Byland and Rievaulx Abbeys and many other National Trust sites.
Despite our rural North Yorkshire setting, the A1 (M) is not too far away. so you will be able to reach Baxby Manor, and depart from it, without wasting valuable time, even though you are most unlikely to ever want to leave.
Facilities
Whatever holiday you are planning, Baxby Manor will provide the perfect home from home. The house is beautifully appointed and equipped to an extremely high standard with quality furnishings and close attention to detail. There is direct dial in/out phone and wireless broadband connection in the study. The Library has books for every taste and a collection of indoor games for lazy days or a cosy evening by the fire. In the sitting room – there is an inglenook fireplace for blazing log fires, a 36" colour TV with Video &DVD player. Beautiful mature and secluded grounds where children can play safely. There is ample garden furniture for al fresco meals, barbecue and garden games equipment [croquet, boules etc.] are provided. There is ample parking. All bed linen and towels are supplied. Heating, electricity and logs are included in the tariff – all you need to bring along is yourself!
Activities
All our guests are welcome to explore our 110 acre farm to enjoy the abundant wildlife and magnificent views towards the Cleveland Hills and over the Vale of York to the Pennines.

The reservation may be cancelled at any time by the Visitor giving The Owner notice in writing. A 100% cancellation charge will be payable. On receipt of the written cancellation The Owner will endeavour to re-book the Accommodation for the Holiday Period and, if successful for the whole or part of the period, will refund the relevant proportion of the money paid less £50.00 (fifty pounds) to cover office administration. A 30% deposit is required upon booking, bookings will not be confirmed until this deposit is received. The balance is due 6 weeks prior to arrival date. If a booking is made and the arrival date is within 6 weeks the total balance is due upon booking. Online bookings with a credit card can be made through our agents website-cottagesdirect or if you prefer to pay via bank transfer, PayPal or cheque this can be done direct through us.

A bit of Baxby background!
Hello!
My name is Barnaby Smith and i am in charge of 'looking after' Baxby Manor.
Baxby has been in our family for 4 generations and it presently belongs to my parents, David and Elaine.
We have recently given Baxby Manor a 'face-lift', new carpets throughout and a full re-decoration as well as re designing most of the rooms.
Baxby Manor was originally an ancient settlement, there is Baxby Mill behind Baxby Manor, the mill has long since gone unfortunately. We believe there were other dwellings around the manor too, this is where the village of Husthwaite started.
