Large country house in a small village within the North Yorkshire Moors
We are local to the area and have lived in Danby for 27 years. and love the peace and tranquility of the village, and the friendliness of the local people. Brackenedge is very near where our own home is and we wanted to share with our holiday guests how wonderful it all is, if only for a few days or a week.
As we are so close, we always call in when our guests have settled in to make sure that everything is to their satisfaction, and that they have found the central heating controls etc.
We have an information booklet that lists all the local restaurants, places to visit and important information such as the name and telephone number of the local Doctor's Surgery.
Danby is very centrally situated for lots of different areas. There are market towns to visit - Helmsley, Kirbymoorside, Guisborough and Stokesley, and seaside resorts around Whitby such as Staithes and Runswick Bay.
One of our favourite places is Lealholm, which is 4 miles away, with its stepping stones over the River Esk, garden centre and one of our favourite eating places at the Board Inn. They only have a chalk board for a menu, and Alistair cooks whatever is available to him, which might be pheasant or grouse in the shooting season, or fish caught off Whitby that morning.
