Vacation Rental Description
Lovely cosy holiday apartment on the outskirts of the very popular North Yorkshire village of Scorton. Newly renovated in 2009, St Cuthberts House is a former Victorian Railway Inn which has recently been transformed into a beautiful modern home. To the rear of the property overlooking the pretty garden and fields beyond is the lovely private apartment, fully modern and finished to a superb standard, and sleeping up to 4 people. The property is tastefully furnished and equipped to an extremely high standard,offering guests a home from home. There is a large 'family' bedroom with full size double bed and also bunk beds for the children. The lounge and dining area enjoys pretty open views. The kitchen is spacious and fully fitted to a very high specification with full oven and hob, full size fridge freezer, dish washer and microwave oven. The luxury shower room boasts top quality fittings including power shower with generous sized shower enclosure, wc and wash hand basin. 
 
Outside there is a loely large garden which guests are welcom to enjoy. There is a large koi pond, raised decked area - perfect for enjoying a relaxing glass of wine on summer evenings, or for the chillier weather, guests may enjoy the use of our lovely summer house to relax and unwind. 
 
We are perfectly situated to allow guests to enjoy our local village (half a mile), beautiful Richmond with its cobbled Georgian market place, ancient castle and lovely riverside walks, and yet still within only an hour of cities like York and Newcastle, Durham and the beautiful North Yorkshire coastline. Our fabulous location allows guests to be literally spoilt for choice with so many places to visit! 
 
Our property is fully NON SMOKING, and unfortunately we cannot accept pets.

Close to the village of Scorton which has 2 super pubs, post office and village store and tea room, we are rurally situated yet in a convenient central location. The A1M at Scotch Corner is only 5 miles away, which allows guests the benefit of a quiet rural location, yet is close to all that this beautiful area has to offer. The area has so much to offer, there is something for everyone. Historic country houses, castles, riversides, water falls, beautiful scenery, walking, touring, sailing, golfing, cycling, horse riding. There are plenty of things on offer for families, with theme parks, cinema, swimming pools, parks, bowling. The apartment is not specifically equipped for disabled, however it is all on ground floor level, allowing easy access to both the accommodation, car parking and the garden.

There are 3 golf clubs within a few miles. There is a boating lake approx 2 miles away. There are numerous fishing lakes and rivers close by. 
 
Skiing and snowboarding are available at Xscape near Leeds which is approx 1 hour away. 
 
We are clse enough for you to enjoy a trip to beautiful and historic York, or the very cosmopolitain city of Newcastle which boasts fabulous shopping, galleries, music venues and night life. 
 
For those of you wishing to enjoy some good British history, there are numerous beautiful castles, abbeys, ruins, country estates and gardens literally on the doorstep, with beautiful Richmond and Easby Abbey only a few minutes away.

A deposit of £100 is payable at the time of booking, which is non refundable.
The remaining balance is payable 8 weeks prior to your stay, unless booking late, in which case the full amount will be due immediately.
Bedding and towels are included for 7 night bookings which generally run Saturday to Saturday.
If we can accommodate mid week bookings at short notice, we will.
Minimum stay of 3 nights is required at any time.
High season, stays of 7 nights only. (July/Aug).
We strongly urge guests to buy travel insurance to cover for unforseen events which may lead to cancellation.
If there are less than 4 weeks to your stay, the full amount will become payable. Prior to 4 weeks, 50% of the cost will become due.
We accept Bank transfer in GBP. Paypal and cheque only.

The house was bought in a poor state over 5 years ago now, and we have lavished love and attention on it and turned it into a very special home. With my background in Art and design, an my husband an engineer, you are assured that every detail has been carefully thought out and our property is finished to a very high specification.

We have lived in this beautiful area for a number of years now, and every day I feel lucky to be here. The yorkshire Dales countryside is beautiful and unique, and it changes dramatically with every season. As a fine artist, I appreciate this unique unspoilt area, and I hope our guests will too.
