Demeter Cottage is a traditional 2 bedroomed fisherman's cottage. It is well maintained and newly carpeted/ decorated. It is furnished with a mix of antique and contemporary furniture, and we aim to provide a 'home from home'. It is well equipped to a high standard. The top floor bedroom has a king sized bed, and there are twin beds in the other bedroom. There is Freeview tv and a good selection of recent DVD's. There is a selection of books to read, including books of local interest. The cottage is tucked away at the top of White Horse yard, peaceful and quiet, but only seconds away from bustling Church Street. It is reached only by pedestrian access - there are steps up to the cottage, so it is unsuitable for those with limited mobility.

Demeter Cottage is tucked away in one of Whitby's old yards, yet it is seconds away from bustling, cobbled Church Street with its shops, restaurants and pubs. It is a stone's throw from the beaches and the harbour. The 199 steps leading up to St Mary's church and Whitby Abbey are a short walk away. The tower of St Mary's church , and the sea, can be seen from the top floor bedroom. Some other rooms have rooftop views over Whitby. A Parking permit is available to visitors so that it is easier to explore the surrounding area - the quaint fishing villages of Robin Hood's Bay and Staithes, the North Yorks moors, Herriot country, the wonderful walks.
