Osmotherley is an unspoilt village ideally located for a relaxing break, quiet and peaceful, yet only ten minutes to the local market town of Northallerton and close to Thirsk (Herriot country) and a wealth of North Yorkshire attractions and villages.
The cottage has many traditional features mixed with the essentials for modern living. There is a cosy living room with traditional fire place, a comfortable dining area with seating for 6 as well as a fully equipped kitchen, plus 3 bedrooms - including 2 x king size beds and 1 single.Osmotherley stands on slightly elevated ground on the western edge of the North York Moors. To the north rise the whaleback Cleveland Hills, to the south are the softer Hambleton Hills. Now a popular tourist village, it is a magnet for walkers of all ages and abilities. There are 2 pubs, a bistro and traditional fish and chip shop, so there is plenty of choice for evening meals. The village also boasts a walking shop, a tea shop, post office and newsagents.The cottage has many traditional features mixed with the essentials for modern living. Central heating and stove provide the heat while there is a modern kitchen with everything you need to make yourself comfortable.
There are 3 bedrooms all have TVs, two include king size double beds and 1 with a single bed. There is a dining room with seating 6, a lounge with seating for 5 plus LCD TV, freeview, a playstation2 and a selection of games and DVDS.
Outside there is also a small courtyard garden slightly offset to the rear of the cottage with table, chairs and benches plus parasol ideal for relaxing with a glass of wine on a warm evening.
A car is recommended although is not essential (Tesco deliver) - you may find the local walks and countryside are sufficient to have a relaxing break - ideal for families and couples. In the villager there are 3 restaurants/pubs a small village shop / post office, chip shop, cafe and outdoor clothing shop.
If you fancy a bit of retail therapy ten minutes drive will take you to the popular market town of Northallerton. It boasts a wide high street with a mix of designer shops, local food stores, Lewis and Cooper a renowned delicatessen, and (a must visit) Betty's famous Cafe.
Mount Grace Priory – Just North of Osmotherley lies one of only nine Carthusian Priories founded in this country and the best preserved. There is a fully restored and furnished monk's cell on display.
Codbeck Reservoir - An attractive and popular picnic spot north of the village. The ancient Drovers road descends from the Moors here en route for Yarm and the River Tees. An idyllic place for families, children can spend hours paddling and splashing safely in the stream whilst for the rest of the family there are fabulous walks all around.
The North York Moors National Park is one of the most stunning landscapes in the country, it will simply make you stand and stare. It really is a very special place. The great variety of landscapes in the North York Moors is what truly makes it unique and gives it a character which so many people can enjoy. You can wander through woods, saunter through picturesque villages of honey sandstone, throw pebbles in a stream or build sandcastles on the beach.
York, The East Coast & More! - A little further afield there is the picturesque North Yorkshire coast including Whitby, Heartbeat country including the North Yorskshire Moors Steam railway between Grosmont and Pickering. York is only 30minutes drive and the market town of Helmsley plus the many abbeys of the region.
