Close to the historic border town of Oswestry and the village of Whittington – famous as the birthplace of the first Lord Mayor of London – is the charming little hamlet of West Felton. With traditional pub and village store, this lovely little getaway is also within easy driving distance of Ellesmere, also known as Shropshire’s Lakeland on account of the nine meres, or lakes. The town also boasts a number of shops, restaurants and pubs. The original Old Oswestry is nearby and is the site of a fantastic Iron Age Hill Fort whilst today's town offers many shops, pubs and restaurant amongst the host of historic buildings. Cremorne Gardens is a great place for walks as is Colemere Country Park, which also plays home to a huge selection of wildlife. The area also has opportunities for fishing and sailing at lake Bala and Lake Vyrnwy.
