5 Cwmdonkin Drive is the birthplace and home of Dylan Thomas - one of the finest writes of teh 290th century.

It has been fully restored over a three year period by Anne and Geoff Haden to its condition when bought as a new house by the Thomas family in 1914 just a few months before Dylan was born in the front bedroom on 27th October.

The house has many modern conveniences including discreet central heating and a modern gas cooker but no TV, radio or telephone! Entertainment comes from a piano, lots of books and a phonogram with a brass horn which plays 78rpm records.

We can arrange delivery of fresh produce and milk

Nearby is Cwmdonkin Park - Dylan's 'world within a world of this sea town' and close by are the Gower beaches.

Swansea has many places that were around in Dylan's day and the Dylan Thomas Centre has an exhibition about him and his work.

The house is ideally suited for a family get together as well as for corporate groups or birthday celebrations. Larger groups can combine with self catering cottages at our sister company of Clyne Farm

5 Cwmdonkin Drive will give you a taste of what it is like to live at the turn of the century and what influence the house and its surrounding=s had on the young Dylan Thomas who wrote over two thirds of his published output while living in the house.

Although modern conveniences are limited there is a large bath and - very posh for 1914! - a separate wc as well as an outside wc. We can arrange delivery of fresh goods and produce and advise on trips locally on foot and further afield by car and public transport.

Discover Dylan's secret window and the gas light in his tiny bedroom (next to the airing cupboard with '...the pipes swearing at me...'). This is a house that will remind so many people of their own home in their youth and somewhere in the house there will be something that will 'touch' you.

Low Season Price : £1500 High Season Price : £2400 per Week
The house can be reserved for £50 until 31st January for that year's bookings. On that date the balance ofg a 50% deposit becomes due. Full payment is due six weeks before the rental date. Payment can be by cash, cheque, credit or debit card (secure online payment available)
