Vacation Rental Description
In the Brecon Beacons National Park on the site of an old Cider Mill, this comfy annex to our farmhouse offers a double bedroom with pine furnishings and a substantial double bed settee in the lounge. Situated between Hay-on-Wye and Brecon you have direct access to superb walking on the Black Mountains. You have your own parking place and access to the garden and patio. Dogs are respectfully requested to remain outside the bedroom and lounge.
Cider Mill Annex is set in the most fantastic accessible countryside where there is a lot going on close by. You can walk direct onto the mountains on footpaths through the farm. This area is famous for its food production and many towns have their own food festivals, farmers markets and local butchers.
Festivals within easy reach include Hay-on-Wye Literature, Royal Welsh Agricultural Show, Builth Wells, and all events on the showground, Brecon Jazz, Green Man Festival, Crickhowell, Abergavenny Food Festival, various weekend and day festivals including our own Festival of the Black Mountains in Talgarth over August Bank Holiday. There is bound to be something to see locally each weekend. Please ask when booking, so you don't miss out.
Recent upgrading has put in central heating and double glazed windows as well as improving the kitchen and bathroom. Your bedroom is roomy and has a full bedroom suite, so plenty of storage.
The lounge is down two steps and looks onto the garden. There are armchairs and a sofa bed and cabinets. There is an open fire and logs can be provided. The TV has an integral DVD player.
The bathroom offers a thermostatic shower over the bath.
The kitchen has a fridge, dishwasher, and cooker and a good range of cooking utensils are supplied along with place settings for six.
The separate dining room caters for six, so you could entertain, even.
Used as a base, Cider Mill Annex is a perfect hideaway from which to explore a vibrant and welcoming country.
On the farm, we are undertaking various environmental projects and are happy to show you and explain these. There is a wide spectrum of wildlife observed on the farm. We have several badger setts and rich birdlife. The flora is extensive with several uncommon plants at home here.
Apart from having direct access from this cottage to the wide open spaces of the Black Mountains, there is plenty going on nearby for you to try. Try a taster glider lesson with the Black Mountains Gliding Club less than a mile away. You can be soaring up, up and away, looking down on the spectacular countryside below. There are contact details in the welcome brochure and leaflets.
Want to do it the easy way on horseback? The Forrest Trekking centre is just a mile away and caters for all standards of rider. There are several other trekking stables nearby.
On the ocassional rainy day, just 10 minutes away (by car)is the Llangorse Rope Centre where you can while away the day on the indoor climbing walls or zip wire. Tuition is readily available at reasonable prices.
For those who love the water, there is Llangorse Lake with its many opportunities for water sports. And canoes can be hired on the River Wye, you travel downstream by canoe and get picked up at the end along with your canoe and transported back to your car.

You are nestling on the lower slopes of the Black Mountains and you can walk straight onto this spectacular range from this cottage. A day out on the mountain will afford you superb views into England as well as across the Brecon Beacons.

The roomy lounge has a full length bed setee to provide for another couple as well as comfy armchairs. Basic TV is included and Wifi access is available for those with laptops (though the signal is insufficient for TV watching). The bedroom has a full pine bedroom suite. There is a separate dining room that can seat 6 and crockery, etc. is provided for this. Our garden is available for you to relax in and there is a rustic patio in front of your lounge. Parking is adjacent to the entrance.
The nearby village of Talgarth is well served with grocery store, open 7am-10pm, local butcher, paper shop, bakery, drug store, several take-away food outlets, restaurants and tourist information. Local foods can be purchased from neighbouring producers as well as ourselves. We can provide a grocery package for arrival if required, please ask for details.
