Vacation Rental Description
Little Loveston is a group of 4 traditional stone buildings (Loveston Barn-sleeps 2: Long Barn-sleeps 4: Landsker House-sleeps 7 and The Old Farmhouse-sleeps 10) around a large courtyard, set in 4 acres of mature, landscaped grounds and surrounded by organic farmland and woods. The artist and architect owners have carefully restored the buildings to both retain the original character and create lively, functional living spaces. The old pig sty has been converted into a large games room with pool and table tennis - it also has a piano and wood burning stove and lots of books and games. The cottages all have their own private gardens and there is also a football field, large playarea with swings, fort, slide, sandpit with a brightly painted little caravan and good walking from the door. We have recently built an outdoor 12x5m solar heated pool and sauna in a pretty setting that our visitors are welcome to use at prearranged times. The large carparking area is set well away from the cottages and playareas to create a quiet idyll for our visitors. the cottages all have woodburning stoves, well equipped kitchens and bathrooms, laundry facilities, freeview television and disabled access in 3 of the properties - see access statements on our website for information. Little Loveston is situated on the edge of the National Park in the heart of Pembrokeshire. A great place from which to explore the counties beaches, attractions, waterways and countryside. It is also on the Landsker trail (passes through at the bottom of the field) so there is good walking and cycling from the door. The immediate surroundings have been designated a Site of Specific Scientific Interest because of its rich and varied plant and wildlife and we are also close to the Cleddau Estuary (Pembrokeshires Secret Waterways) and the ancient woodlands at Canaston and Minwear. The cottages are well equipped with informative brochures and walking maps. The beautiful sandy beaches and pretty towns - Tenby and Pembroke - of South Pembrokeshire can be reached in 15-20 minutes and the more rugged coastline of the North with St Davids cathedral city and West are no more than 45 minutes away. for excellent local produce we have Yerbeston Farm Shop within walking distance and the lively market town of Narberth, with all manner of shops, cafes and galleries in 10 minutes drive away. Our local pub is the Cresselly Arms, down on the waters edge - well known for its setting, traditional hospitality and a great place to watch the sun go down. the big family attractions of Oakwood Theme Park and Folly Farm are only 10 minutes drive away and many other visitor attractions such as Heatherton Country Park, Manor Park Zoo, The Dinosaur Park, Castles of Pembroke, Manorbier and Carew all within 20 minutes - then its great to come back to Little Loveston for some peace and quiet! Pembrokeshire is unique in that the entire peninsular coastline is part of Britain's National Park and has much to offer the discerning visitor such as walking the coastal path, abseiling, orienteering, swimming, sailing, kitesurfing, windsurfing, scuba diving, surfing, powerboats, jetskis, fishing, caving and wonderful beaches. the towns and villages are rich in their historic buldings such as the many village churches and chapels, St Davids Cathedral, museums, theatres, antiques, artisans, artists and local produce. Countryside activities such as fishing, shooting, horseriding abound or go birdwatching and spot the famous Chough and visit the islands of Caldey, Ramsey and Skomer with its famous nature reserve. There is also much to be said for just spending the day at Little Loveston too - The cottages are ideal for both large and small parties of friends and family - from 2-23 and all ages, we will also welcome your dog - A relaxing and informal base.

    THE OLD FARMHOUSE (sleeps 10)
'Wir haben sehr schone Tage hier im Old famhouse verbracht und kommen bestimmt mal wieder' Hann & Erban Familie, Germany', Sept 2010

'Fab holiday again, excellent hosts, kids just love the space to run around and enjoy themselves. Went further afield this time to St Davids, lovely to meander and Whitesands lovely. All in all great accommodation and excellent location. Thanks and we will be coming back soon.' Andersons & Holstons, Sheffield, August 2010

'A very beautiful place with a spectacular coastline - we need more time to explore. Many thanks.' Dry Family (9 adults), Devon, July 2010

'Weather wonderful, beaches superb, welcome brilliant. Loveston is a beautiful place and we really felt we were in the countryside we remembered as children - incidentally, the children didn't want to go home!' The Newns and Fox Family, June 2010

'We have really enjoyed our week aided by some fantastic weather. We finally managed to get to Lawrenny Tearooms and were not disappointed - lovely walk around the estuary too. Wonderful days at the beach at Barafundle Bay and Marloes Sands - our favourite beaches! Kids loved Heatherton as usual. Also enjoyed playing football and using the lovely outdoor pool. Many thanks Ruth, Tim and family for your warm welcome and making Little Loveston such a special place to visit. A week is never long enough.' Giles Family, Surrey, May 2010

    LANDSKER HOUSE (sleeps 7)
'We have enjoyed every minute of our stay here and even Joseph, our 5 year old, has said for the first time ever that he doesn't want to go home. It's a perfect set-up for kids here and most of all they have enjoyed swimming in the pool, playing with the other children and Jasmin the cat and Tuski and Nora. Highlights for us have been Barafundle Bay, Manorbier Beach, boat trip to Caldey Island and lunch at the Lawrenny Quay, the most beautiful and tranquil of settings. You are both to be congratulated for your skills at creating a perfect environment for children! (adults also).' Broome Family, Shropshire, Sep

'Our 5th stay at Little Loveston! We have really enjoyed our holiday at Landsker House and we love the new rooms that have been added. Had two great beach days at Barafundle and Tenby South beaches. Great days out at Folly Farm, Manor House Wildlife Park and Oakwood. Thank you Ruth and Tim, looking forward to coming back next year.' Rowlands Family, Cardiff, August 2010

'A wonderful week, cottage has everything you could want and lovely peaceful setting. Kids loved Broadhaven beach South and Folly Farm, Mark loved Megaphobia at Oakwood. Great food in Carew Inn but make sure you book. See you next July. Darlingtons, Cheshire, August 2010

'Thanks Ruth and Tim for Landsker House. We really enjoyed our 2 weeks here and will leave knowing that we'll be back. Our favourites were; Seafair, Cresswell Quay Hogroast (Maria), holding friendly tarantula in Dragon Reptile Village (Grainne 6), dodgems in Folly Farm (Eoin 3), Soft Play area in Dinosaur Park (Niall 1), Barafundle Beach eating sand (Daniel 1) and we all enjoyed the pool between excursions. Meghen Family, Eire, July 10

'Don't want to leave, have really enjoyed cottage and area. We came for Pembrokeshire Fish Week and enjoyed the activities. This week we ate: Carew Inn-Home cooking, big portions; Lawrenny Quay-fantastic cafe, location lovely; Ultracomeda in Narberth- excellent Spanish deli, a must for foodies; Farmshop 2 mins away - fantastic produce, home cured bacon, sausages, beef and eggs and Milton Fishmonger, great for fish, crab and lobster. We drank; at the local - Cresswell Quay, great setting for a beer, they don't have pubs like this - a one off!. We relaxed; At cottage of course and Tenby beaches. Visited; Folly Farm-heaven for kids; Colby woodland Garden-lovely spot and Carew Castle and Mill - really good. Walked; Bosherston Lily Ponds, 6 mile circular walk along coastal path, Stackpole Quay and rained (FAB).' Hodgkinson & Charlton Families. July 2010

    LONG BARN (sleeps 4)
We have had a really wonderful relaxing time here. Harry in particular has LOVED swimming in your lovely pool and warming himself up in the sauna afterwards! We've enjoyed some super outings - to Manorbier, Barafundle beach (lovely crashing waves), Carew Castle, Heatherton (to try Treetops climbing and water-walking), Tenby and Saundersfoot. We've enjoyed lovely lounging around and reading and we are sad to go but leave with very happy memories. Thankyou.' Hodder family, Derby, Sept 2010

'Our second visit: very pleasant yet again. We have all enjoyed it. Went so quickly - a week isn't quite long enough' Mynheers, Berkshire, August 2010

'A great base for a weeks activity holiday, Fishing, Wallking, Sea Kayak! (7 miles), also some great on-land events for a group - Heatherton and Oakwood. A well equipped place to stay and we have been made very welcome. Many Thanks. Nick, family&friends, July 2010

'Looking through the guestbook I havent found anyone else from Cork or even Ireland who has stayed here before. I think we'll have to change that by telling everyone about this place. Our first time in Wales and I think it won't be our last. Perfect little place in a perfect setting. Tim and Ruth have worked hard to convert this place to what it is and it really shows. The setting, landscape, beaches and way of life here are really great. Well impressed. The pool is a wonderful addition to the place, on a hot day you may as well be in the south of France. Thanks for everying and we will be recommending Little Loveston to all at home.' Lynch Family, Cork, Ireland, July 2010

'Great to be back at Little Loveston. Blessed with fantastic hot sunny weather. Visited old favourites - Broadhaven South Beach and Tenby South Beach. Oakwood was a favourite for Matthew and Robert along with the Blue Lagoon Water Park. The pool was fantastic especially during this hot spell and Matthew and Robert had a great time playing football in the evenings with the other boys here. Sad to leave this wonderful part of Wales but rest assured we ill be back soon. Thank you Ruth and Tim and thanks for the delicious cake - it did not last long!' The Berry Family, Lancashire, June 2010

'Another fantastic week in this wonderful cottage. Sitting in the beautiful garden, the usual stress of everyday life seem a long way away. We have been to some old favourite places; Barafundle, Manorbier, Carew Castle and a lovely walk around the dale peninsula as well as exploring some new ones; Lawrenny Quay is very pretty as is Freshwater West (especially to watch the sun set). Food at the Farm Shop was outstanding as usual and when we fancied a night off from BBQs the Carew Inn was great (if it's good enough for Russell Crowe!) The pool is another very well done addition here and a real haven in glorious sunshine (its not too cold - honest!) Thank you again to Ruth and Tim and we are already looking forward to our next visit!' Jennifer and Al, Leeds, May 2010

'Wow, what a fabulous week. we couldn't have had weather more perfect to relax in. Day after day of clear blue sky and where better to soak up the sun than this peaceful garden in this delightful place. We have also revisited some favourite haunts - Saundersfoot, Carew Castle and Narberth, and been to some new areas - lovely walk at Treffgarne Gorge and Amroth. but there is still plenty more to do and see so we will be back next year. Thank you Ruth and Tim' Malcolm, Sue and Rosie (the dog), Co. Durham, April 2010

    LOVESTON BARN (sleeps 2)
We've had a thoroughly blessed week here at Loveston Barn - such a wonderful place to stay and thank you Ruth and Tim for your warm, generous hospitality. We've enjoyed stunning weather and have thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful beaches - fabulous that the dog was allowed too - Manorbier, Broadhaven Beach through the lily ponds and Stackpole tea rooms - Barafundle beach on the agenda next time! Thanks for the lovely cake - we hope to see you next September!' John and Sarah Pearce (and bump) & Elijah (dachsund), Bristol, Sept 2010

'An absolutely perfect holiday, the best! So relaxing, so peaceful, brilliant! will definitely return! Thank you so much Tim and Ruth,' Alistair and Jenny, York, August 2010

'I loved being here and playing in the games room and on the castle. This week I have been to Colby Gardens, Freshwater East, Gwili Railway, Teifi Railway, Cilgerran Castle, St Dogmaels Abbey, Pembroke Castle, Pembroke Docks, Carew Castle and Mill, and the Dinosaur Park. It was brilliant! Thank you. Mummy and Daddy liked it too.' Isaac (age 2) York, July 2010

'We've enjoyed a week of perfect weather. Very taken with Narberth. Can recommend Ultracomeda for a coffee or a Spanish Breakfast, and Carreg for dinner. Favourite beaches were Broadhaven South and Freshwater East, both dog friendly.' Judy&Ian, Staffs, June, 10

'Dear Ruth and Tim, Thank you very much for this week full of fun in a familiar atmosphere! We really enjoyed having breakfast every morning with Tuski, Nora and the cat and we hope you enjoyed the German beer. We would love to come back next year because Wales is far too big to see in one week. Thank you for everything.' Bianca&Peter, Germany, June 2010

'Another fantastic trip and the birds - especially the sparrows have excelled themselves with their continuoul singing - a week of bliss.' Mum, Granny Angela, Pewsey, May 2010

'Thank you Dear Ruth and Tim, Thank you for all the tourism information. Wir haben uns hier sehr gut erhold.' Silke und Roy, Germany, May 2010

'Thank you for a wonderful time, the setting is wonderful, all the beautiful birds singing, its so tranquil, a little haven of paradise. It was wonderful to visit lots of favourite old haunts, also to enjoy a trip round Skomer Island to see the beautiful puffins. Weather glorious, hedgerows full of primroses and violets.' Ruth walking Tuski on Tenby Beach Little Loveston and living in Pembrokeshire

We came to Little Loveston 18 years ago with our 3 children when it was a derelict farmstead and spent many years renovating the buildings and landscaping the grounds to create a place we now love. What initially drew us was the lushness of the surroundings and traditional stone buildings - both of which we have worked at to maintain - and the central location. All of Pembrokeshire is within easy reach so we enjoy walking, swimming and sailing all around the County and quite a bit of chilling too when possible. Tim works as an Architect and I try to find time for artwork. Although the surroundings are rural, we have an excellent farmshop up the road and 'Tessas organic veg stall' down the lane so trips to supermarkets are kept to a minimum. There is also possibly the best pub in Pembrokeshire 'Cresselly Arms' a decent walk away by the Estuary (torch recommended to find your way home at night). In the cottages we have compiled guides of beaches, eating places and walking maps. Most of our visitors are regulars and keep coming back because they enjoy the relaxed, laid back feel of Little Loveston and to take advantage of the many natural and cultural delights Pembrokeshire has to offer
