Vacation Rental Description
Secluded, rural, Grade II listed, 18th century luxury holiday accommodation set in over 90 private acres of the beautiful Snowdonia National Park, near Beddgelert. Enjoy walking our own land, most of which has been designated SSSI (Site of Special Scientific Interest). Streams, dingles, footpaths, high moorland with buzzards, osprey and sheep. Exclusive use of hot tub spa situated in the Orchard House, with extra towels, robes and flip flops supplied. Sleeps max. 6 in three beds (dbl with beautiful white metal Victorian style bed and traditional Welsh blanket, twin with traditional style white metal beds and separate sitting area and bunk bedroom with full-sized bunks with a red and white theme – very popular with children and teens). Two bathrooms incl. power shower, bath and bidet, large modern and very well-equipped kitchen/diner - washing machine, dishwasher, microwave, electric cooker, large fridge-freezer, stainless steel overmount sink pot bellied stove and underfloor heating. Large, extendable round white table and chairs overlooking garden area. Lounge with huge inglenook and woodburner. Logs provided. Two very comfortable sofas, TV/DVD/video/CD player, games and lots of books. Underfloor heating under traditional random Welsh slate floor downstairs and radiators upstairs. Carpeted stairs and upper floor. Private walled front garden with patio seating. Orchard and second sitting area at rear. Children’s play equipment. Non smoking. Well-controlled dogs welcome at no extra charge. £435-935 weekly inclusive of all linens and fuel. No charge for dogs - but must be well controlled and well behaved. Lots of little extras supplied in the bathrooms and kitchen. A romantic hideaway or a family holiday - you choose. Ideal for walkers, climbers or just those wanting to get away from it all! With underfloor heating and radiators/wood burning stoves it is ideal for Christmas and New Year lets - we even put up the decorations for you. New for 2011 limited satellite wi-fi broadband.
Facilities
The tranquility of the mountains with modern technology. Our flat screen TV has a terrestial digital signal - there is a good video/DVD library too. No mobile phone reception so you can really get away from it all. Satellite bradband which guests may access but monthly usage is very low for satellite connection so restricted access to emails/browsing etc and no streaming/heavy downloads. Welcome pack on arrival (even for canine guests!) and little extras always to hand - tea, coffee, sugar, condiments, herbs and spices, olive oil, butter, our own free-range eggs (we have a flock of hens and one extraordinarily handsome cockrell) fresh milk, marmalade, washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets, washing powder and cleaners kind to our Septic tank waste system. Shower gel, soap, handwash, shampoo and condition in the bathrooms. We have a re-cycling system which we hope guests will use. Hot tub is kept at a relaxing 36 degrees year round.
Activities
The golf is near Porthmadog/Criccieth some 20 mins drive away where you will also find supermarkets and independent shops and places to eat. Nearby Beddgelert is a popular and attractive place to visit and has restaurants and cafes plus craft shops and a very good village store. You can hire bikes from here. The area is also well-placed to attract lovers of narrow guauge steam railways with several in the area. Kayaks can be hired locally on Llyn Gwynant and the area has many adventure sports centres including aerial rope adventures! The nearest beach at Black Rocks Sands, near Porthmadog. Hiking from the door or try one of the famous Snowdon footpaths - but do come well-equipped as the weather can change very quickly in the mountains. We have a local independent cinema in Porthmadog, the Coliseum, run by local volunteers - please support them during your stay. Or just lie in the double hammock in the orchard and relax...

A Booking Form is sent out after an agreed verbal/email provisional booking. Details of our Terms and Conditions are also included. A 25% deposit is required with the balance paid 6 weeks before the rental commences. The full rental price will be charged if the rental period is less than 6 weeks away. Payment to be made by cheque or electronic online transfer please. We will refund monies paid in most circumstances in the event of cancellation. Exceptions would be that the deposit may be retained if a booking is cancelled less than 3 weeks before the start of the rental and we are unable to let to other guests. We welcome long weekends/short breaks when possible - please enquire.

'The devil is in the details' - is probably our motto! Having rented so many self-catering holiday homes all over Europe in the past we certainly knew what kind of things we needed to avoid...uncomfortable, mismatched furniture; knick-knacks donated by a maiden aunt; ill-equipped kitchens and, above all the idea of arriving at a holiday home to find it devoid of even the salt and pepper! Buarthau is a true home from home - it feels welcoming and cosy and has all those little extras that make it so special such as quality WC rolls in both bathrooms plus shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, soap and handwash. Our kitchen has condiments, olive oil, herbs and spices, butter, milk, a welcome pack including wine and chocolates, our own free-range eggs, sauces - we'll even give you a load of bread if you have forgotten and the shops are shut. We've even been known to make homemade soup for guests arriving in the snow - and that's after arranging for them to be collected from a nearby village when snow had halted their progress... we want our guests to be delighted, not just pleased, with what we offer here in the wonderful, wild reaches of the Snowdonia National Park. We own over 90 acres of this beautiful wilderness and as we also offer a hot tub spa, exclusive to guests, we are very popular with ramblers and people wanting to de-stress from their busy lives. If you want to arrive by train - we'll collect you from the station. If you would like us to get in some shopping for you, or cook that scrummy leg of Welsh lamb in our range for 12 hours whilst you go out - no problem.
