An end of terrace three bedroomed stone cottage, sleeps 5, set in the quiet location of Drimpton near Beaminster Dorset. The cottage is situated at the end of a no through road on the doorstep of the famous Monarchs Way footpath. Delightfully refurbished the cottage, with a new bathroom and shower installed May 2009 ,has an entrance porch, sitting room with log burner, kitchen/dining room with cooker, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine and oil fired central heating.Outside there is a South facing garden with garden furniture and barbeque.
Parking for one car.
Things to do in West Dorset
There is absolutely no shortage of things to do. Whether you wish to sightsee, cycle, play golf, walk, shop, laze on the beach, visit exquisite gardens indulge in a bit of fishing (sea, coarse or game), hit the Clay Pigeon shoot, or simply chill out you will find yourselves in the right place.
Choice
The local area is just outstanding. Rolling green countryside, fabulous Eggardon Hill, lofty Golden Cap, the Jurassic Coast (just 20 minutes away), Hardy country, Sherborne Abbey, Chesil Beach, the Cerne Abbas Giant - take your pick, West Dorset just has it. And it’s home to some of the finest houses and gardens in the south of England too
Sightseeing
Whether it’s ultra-modern but utterly timeless Poundbury, ancient Sherborne with its magnificent Abbey and schools, or the historic County town of Dorchester (Hardy’s Casterbridge) .
Picturesque Abbotsbury with its Swannery and sub-tropical Gardens is always worth a visit or Bridport and the harbour of West Bay. Bridport is featured as one of The Independent’s “20 best kept secrets in Britain”. Go just a bit further to Lyme Regis where “The French Lieutenant’s Woman” was filmed.
To the south the popular resort of Weymouth always welcomes visitors. Or head further to enjoy Durdle Dor with its classic beach and cliff scenery which extends to Lulworth Cove and beyond even Corfe Castle - quite magnificent!
Or perhaps you would prefer rugged Portland. Previously noted for its quarries, Borstal, prison and naval base, Portland is now better known as a haven for sailors and as the venue for 2012 Olympic sailing. Portland Bill Light is also worth a visit.

There are numerous attractions to suit both young and old. Monkey World is popular for people of all ages and receives excellent reports. Children love the Dinosaur Museum in Dorchester. Other museums abound including the Tank Museum at Bovington and the Fleet Air Arm Museum at Yeovilton. The Clay Pigeon Kart Club (where Jensen Button learned his trade) is nearby on the same site as the Southern Counties Clay Pigeon Shooting Ground.

The Royal Oak, a few minutes walk from the cottage, serves good wholesome food.
The whole area is excellent for walking with the historic Monarch's Way and a dramatic range of hills topped by Iron Age forts.
Broadwindsor- 1 mile away- has a village shop, craft museum and coffee bar whilst Beaminster the nearest small town has a range of specialist shops including local butchers greengrocers and restaurants.
It is 9 miles to the shingle beach at Eype, from where you can walk over the cliffs to the beach at West Bay with its newly developed harbour, drive to Burton Bradstock for delicious hot chocolate! Try fossil hunting on the superb sandy beach at Charmouth or Lyme Regis gateway to the glorious Jurassic coastline where the Oyster bar restaurant over looks the Cobb where “The French Lieutenant’s Woman” was filmed.
