A superb place to bring dogs & kids - plenty of walks and practically no traffic. There's a whole valley to explore, woods to play in and the river to dam and race boats on. The River Gara rarely runs above knee height so it's safe to paddle and they can feed the ducks. Birdwatchers enjoy our wide variety of wood and wetland birds, you can fish for the small brown trout in the river, and moon- and star-gazers love our lack of light pollution. Artists and writers have always found inspiration here John Masefield based a children's novel here, and Tennyson and WB Yeats visited Yeats' artist brother Jack who lived in the valley. One of our cottages was owned by a member of the Bloomsbury Group.
