Owner Location Comment
Dartmoor is one of the few remaining areas of wilderness in England. A magnificent area of moorland in the centre of Devon covering over 300 square miles. Dartmoor is teaming with history from pre-historic times; Neolithic remains, stone circles, ruined villages and hill top tors. Dartmoor is pretty with thatched cottages, rolling valleys and ancient woodland. It is dramatic with wide open breathtaking landscapes, heather clad vistas, bubbling cauldrons and tumbling waterfalls. Mysterious with myths and legends, bogs and mists. Yet everyone finds it entertaining with antique markets, tea shops, low beamed pubs and gourmet restaurants. Roam around ancient ruins and historic abbeys, try white water rafting or canoeing on Dartmoor’s fast flowing rivers or rock climbing on its granite outcrops or simply walk among hundreds of walking trails and see Dartmoor’s famous wild ponies.
