Vacation Rental Description
Trevethan is a beautiful contemporary-furnished holiday home in the fashionable resort of Rock on the Camel Estuary, an area of outstanding natural beauty, close to the Atlantic coast. The property is located centrally, close to Porthilly Cove, and is less than two miles from the safe sandy beach of Daymer Bay. The more adventurous surfing beach of Polzeath is only two miles away. Rock's golf and sailing clubs, and excellent local shops, are just a short walk from Trevethan. Trevethan sleeps 8 people in 4 bedrooms, two of which have ensuite bathrooms. There is also a large family bathroom with bath and separate walk-in shower. The property is all on one level with no internal stairs making it especially suitable for toddlers and elderly people. It has a large open-plan living space with a vaulted ceiling. The very well-equipped kitchen has granite worktops, a double oven and grill, a fridge-freezer plus an additional fridge, full-size Smeg dishwasher, ceramic hob and microwave oven. Plenty of pans, cookware, crockery and quality cutlery are supplied. A separate utility room houses the washing machine, tumble dryer, and a drinks cooler.
The dining area has a large table seating eight with comfortable upholstered chairs and one high-chair for babies. The living room has two comfortable 4-seater sofas and a white leather Barcelona chair that seats two children. A wall-mounted digital flatscreen TV receiving multiple channels and a DVD player are provided in the living room. A further freeview TV, DVD player, VCR and music centre are provided in the twin bedroom.
There are two bedrooms with double beds with memory foam-topped mattresses, and ensuite bathrooms. A larger bedroom has twin beds and there is a small bedroom with two single beds ideally suited to children. One of these beds is a full size single (3' by 6'3") and the other is slightly smaller (2'6" x 5'7"). All beds are equipped with a choice of light or heavy-weight duvets and additional blankets for cooler weather.
Many extras are supplied including a cupboard stocked with games, DVDs and videos, a selection of books to suit all ages, radios, hairdryers, bodyboards, beach toys, and complimentary toiletries. Heating (oil-fired central heating) is included in the price as is hot water and Wi-Fi broadband.
Trevethan has front and rear gardens with lawns bordered by trees, shrubs and flowers. The fully-enclosed rear garden also has a large stone terrace with a teak table and eight teak armchairs for alfresco dining. A barbecue is provided.
Rock is fortunate in having great facilities for golf, sailing, waterski-ing and other water sports. Children can learn to sail in Rock, to windsurf at Daymer Bay and to surf at Polzeath. There is also great coastal walking.
The village of Rock has a good selection of quality food shops and luxury leisure clothing shops. There are a few excellent restaurants in Rock itself including Nathan Outlaw at the St Enodoc hotel. Others close by include those of Rick Stein which are just a short ferry ride from Rock in nearby Padstow. There are more in the ancient and charming fishing harbour of Port Isaac, used in the filming of the TV series Doc Martin. The town of Wadebridge, also nearby, has several restaurants including two good curry establishments. Wadebridge and Padstow have numerous interesting shops and galleries and cinemas.
Rock is a great base for exploring the Camel cycle trail, and nearby historic houses Trerice, Pencarrow, Lanhydrock and Prideaux Place. Garden-lovers enjoy visiting the famous gardens of Cornwall such as the Eden project, Lost gardens of Heligan, Trewithen, and Trebar.

A booking form is sent once availability of the chosen week(s) has been checked. A signed form and 25 per cent deposit are required to secure a booking. The full balance is payable six weeks before the holiday commences. Payment can be made by cheque, online bank transfer or by credit card using PayPal (3% extra charged). Cancellations must be made eight weeks before the holiday commences at the latest. After this time the full amount will be charged unless the property can be re-let (not usually a problem in summer holidays). A returnable damage deposit is required, usually returned within a few days of departure. Linen and towel hire costs £7.50 per person or visitors may bring their own. In the case of very late bookings (within six weeks of the holiday start date), full payment is required immediately. Change-over day in summer is Saturday. Arrival time is from 3.30 pm onwards and check out time is 11am. Out of season bookings POA.

Interior design and comfort are our chief concern in providing accommodation. We like to provide a modern stylish look with quality furnishings, art works and high-spec bathrooms/power showers and audiovisual equipment. Beds have memory-foam or pillow mattress toppings and we supply high threadcount Egyptian cotton bedlinen. We also give much thought to ensuring each property is very well equipped and presented in immaculate condition.
In our Cornish property in Rock, our cottage has a light beach house feel while in Surrey we have a more 'home-counties' ambience with a modern twist.
Our larger property is ideally placed for a Cornish self-catering holiday. So close to excellent food shops and restaurants there is no need to take the car yet it is just a short distance from the beaches, sailing and golf clubs.
An excellent holiday can be enjoyed in Rock itself but within a few miles there are many other attractions such as Porthcothan beach, Port Isaac, historic houses like Lanhydrock, Pencarrow, Trerice and Prideaux Place, the boutiques, restaurants and harbour of Padstow, and gardens such as the Eden Project, the Lost Gardens of Heligan, Trewithen, Trelissick and Trebah.
In Surrey our two-bedroom apartment provides an excellent base for the summer season activities of Chelsea Flower Show, Ascot, Henley, Hampton Court, Windsor and Wimbledon. The property is within a mile of a direct rail link that takes just 25 to 40 minutes to reach London. Heathrow is a 30 minute drive away and London Gatwick is 45 minutes. The property is close to the charming old village of Cobham and Weybridge and is a few miles from Woking and Guildford. Just a couple of streets away is the site of the world's first motor racing track and the motor and aviation museum of Brooklands.
