  • Downderry is a beautiful, popular Cornish seaside village which enjoys breathtaking unspoilt coastline & countryside. It also has good local day-to-day facilities with a general store, Post Office, traditional inn with lovely sea views and the recent opening of Blueplate by Nick Barclay.  
     
    If you enjoy walking, the coastal paths provide many opportunities with nearby Seaton, Looe, Talland Bay & onto the 13th Century fishing village of Polperro. 
     
    Good leisure sporting facilities are within easy reach including the 18 hole coastal golf courses of Whitesand Bay and Looe. There are many beaches around, Downderry being mainly shingle and Whitsand Bay which is a vast sandy beach.  
     
    The ancient ports of Looe & Polperro are reachable in fifteen and twenty minutes respectively and the city of Plymouth is an half hour distant.This is a fine house for a family, coastal holiday in a most beautiful part of Cornwall.

    A fantastic property in a great location in Downderry, the "forgotten corner" as it is often known but one of my favourite parts of Cornwall. The property itself was built in late 2006 and is situated on a south facing hillside overlooking Downderry village and the sea with views across to Looe Island and beyond, as far as the Lizard on a fine day. The property was designed to make the most of its location and so the maximum allowable use of glass has been used, so that nearly every room has a sea view. The living and dining area have 2 sets of double doors that lead onto the full length terrace making the best of the fantastic sea views. Two of the bedrooms upstairs have Juliet balconies and again they face directly across to Looe and beyond. There is also an elevated timber decking with oak table and chairs for those al fresco summer evenings.

    There are a number of great eateries locally, the Inn on the Shore and the recently opened Blueplate by Nick Barclay are both in Downderry village, further afield Looe has got a huge range to suit every taste and pocket. In the other direction, the Finnygook Inn in Crafthole does great food and serves food all day until 9pm. It is also worth a trip to the very quaint smuggling villages of Kingsand and Cawsand where again there is a good choice of Inns.
