Perfect for two, perfect for five, and everyone in between!
Tuc-Tin is a wonderful character filled fisherman's cottage renovated in 2006, we have retained all the character and charm and added lovely things like a shower bath and essential dishwasher!
Tuc-Tin is in the heart of the thriving sea-side town of East Looe on the south coast of Cornwall. It is set in the old part of the town, down a quiet lane, with a flower pot filled alley outside the back door. From the bright blue front door it is only 200m to the beautiful sandy beach and newly paved promenade and only 200m the other way to the fishing boats on the quay, restaurants and shops. This is the perfect setting for a holiday where, if you don't want to drive further, stop here!
The front door takes you straight into the cottage. Slate tiles throughout the ground floor are typical of Cornwall. There are two lovely leather sofas with lots of cushions.
To the front a stylish wood slat blind gives privacy and sumptuous gold and blue Monkwell curtains give luxury and glamour. In the summer hire deck chairs and wind-breaks on the beach and let the kids go on the trampolines. Owner Location Comment
East Looe is a beautiful fishing town located on the South Coast Path in Cornwall. It has a huge variety of shops, restaurants and pubs from which to choose, as well as the essentials, Post Office, supermarket, banks and chemist. There is a train station on the edge of the town, within easy walking distance of this entire small town. The Looe Valley Line has been running trains to and from Liskeard for 150 years and they run regularly all year round, Liskeard is on the Plymouth to Penzance line so you can holiday in Looe by train.
The huge sandy beach is dog free all year and swept almost daily in summer by a tractor, making it very safe for children. It is large even at high tide but at low tide there is plenty of hard sand for playing cricket/football and other beach games on.
The quayside is ideal for crabbing and there are plenty of seaside shops providing equipment for all seaside activities. Fishing trips for shark and mackerel can be taken from the quay, also sightseeing round Looe Island or on the glass bottomed boat can be taken. Tides allowing there is a ferry from East to West Looe (an easy walk even if the tide is out) and the ferry to Polperro can be taken from East Looe Quay.
The town Museum is a small but interesting collection of artifacts located in the most ancient building which was formerly prison cells.
The lifeboat station in East Looe often has it's large door open and the lifeboat is maintained daily. It is located next to an RNLI shop.
The famous 'Banjo' pier, so named because of it's unusual shape protects the river inlet and the beach. The river is tidal and at low tide you can walk on the exposed river bed.
On the quay local fishing boats still unload daily and there is a thriving wet fish warehouse distributing fish in vast quantities. The fishing boats don't mind spectators when they come in and they are usually accompanied by a flock of seagulls cleaning up any scraps thrown overboard.
The town council is very active so the town is maintained with flowers and superb management all year round.
At New Year there is a FANTASTIC display of fireworks from the Banjo pier which attracts many thousands of people from all over the country. The town is packed with fancy dress clad revellers and it is a very exciting affair. Watching the fireworks from the beach and promenade is a wonderful experience.
The local pubs host live music, quizzes and other activities. There is never a shortage of things going on!
Looe looks forward to welcoming you, please visit soon!
