Vacation Rental Description
As you enter the front room, the original slate flag floors give the first clue as to the character of the cottage. The beamed ceilings add to the charm of the large front room which was originally two rooms with central stairs.
To your left is a large fire place with original oak lintol. The unusually low height of this gives another clue to the Victorian restoration. Beyond this, two stage stairs lead to the first floor from the far left corner. Both windows in the from room have window seats, these alcoves were left when the windows were raised by the Victorians during the renovation which saw the whole house raised up by some 18 inches.
Above the oak lintol fire place you can see the Granite stone which formed the base of the first floor fire place and make out the infill which was used to block up this fire place, which now resides between the levels, half way between floors.
To the right is another fire place, remodelled by the Victorians to accommodate a Cornish range, which is sadly missing. However this fire place is working, unlike the other due to the low lintol which was not raised when the floor level were lifted.
To the rear, leading off the front room are the kitchen, breakfast bar and Bathroom. These spaces have been completely remodelled to give a spacious feeling and allow maximum use of the space for a brand new kitchen and bathroom suite.
The slate floor in the rear lobby leads to the rear garden through a stable door, which opens onto a sunken patio area. Two steps lead up onto the rear garden. We have turfed the rear garden , following removal of the outside toilet, this matches the green fields beyond which border the rear.
Leading from the front room, the stairs bring you the the first floor landing from which doors lead to the main bedroom and second bedroom. Both rooms overlook the front garden, and both have window seats.
The main room has a double bed and in the second bedroom, there are two single beds and, depending on your requirements a cot can be provided.
The cottage is fully equipped with oil fired central heating, main water, mains drains and electricity.
