Vacation Rental Description
A very comfortable terraced family house on four floors, situated in the exclusive North Oxford Conservation Area, under a mile from the city centre and less than 1/2 a mile from University Parks and Port Meadow. This house is one of the oldest in North Oxford and forms part of a small terrace of artisan cottages, now all valued at $2 million or more. It has been considerably and sympathetically extended to provide comfortable living accommodation.
The ground floor is open-plan, with 2 sitting areas, a dining area and a kitchen area. The first floor has 2 bedrooms which are large with en-suite bathrooms. The top floor has a further 2 bedrooms, family bathroom and a wide landing with single sofabed. The basement sitting room (single sofa bed) has a wide-screen (42") LCD TV with surround sound, a PS3, a large DVD collection, a computer with Microsoft Windows (XP) and wireless internet access. Shower room with wc. Throughout the house there are several bookcases filled with a wide selection of books.
The house is just around the corner from North Parade, a small street with a newsagents, mini-market, delicatessen, cafes, restaurants etc. It is close to both Oxford city centre and Summertown, which has an excellent selection of supermarkets, wine shops, chemists etc.
Oxford University is the oldest university in the English-speaking world, tracing its origins back to the 11th century. Over 40 different colleges and halls form the University, and many of the buildings which house it were built in the early middle ages. These colleges, as well as the Sheldonian Theatre (designed and built by Sir Christopher Wren 1664 - 1668), the Radcliffe Camera and the Ashmolean Museum (the world's first university museum) are all within easy walking distance of Winchester Road.

The rear garden is private and quiet. The terrace adjacent to the house has a large dining table (sits 12). There is a smaller table and chairs on the decking at the very end of the garden, near the portable BBQ.
Due to the steep, narrow steps, this house isn't really suitable for people with mobility problems or very small children.
Towels and linen are included, changed weekly. 3 hours of general cleaning mid-week. A cleaner is available at £10/hour most days.

Port Meadow (420 acres of ancient common land with the River Thames running through it). Walk along the river to the Trout Inn or have a picnic on the banks of the Thames. We swim in the Thames although there is a large public, outdoor pool under 2 miles away, as well an indoor pool 1 mile away.
Hire a punt on the River Cherwell (1/2 mile away) or walk through University Parks to the world famous Botanic Gardens, the oldest Botanic Gardens in the UK, or take a coach to London (90 minutes max).
There is an excellent coach service between Oxford and London Heathrow Airport(49 miles) and London Gatwick Airport(78 miles). Coaches between Oxford and London (57 miles) run every 15 minutes. Oxford train station is 1.5 miles from the house and has excellent links to London, the Cotswolds, Bath etc. I strongly recommend renting bicycles whilst staying in Oxford.
