Manor House Cottage is a delightful, spacious single storey cottage situated on the edge of the village in the Conservation Area and in the grounds of the owners' 16th century timber framed Grade 2* listed Manor House. It's in a very quiet location next to Newick’s lovely old 11th century church. Newick is a charming, classic English village with a village green, cricket pitch and choice of 3 traditional old timber framed pubs as well as a good restaurant and tandoori restaurant, all within walking distance of the cottage. For those who like country walks there are some glorious walks in the area including, in May, wonderful carpets of bluebells in the woodlands around. The South Downs are just 10 minutes away by car to the south; Ashdown Forest just 10 minutes to the north. 
 
8 miles to Haywards Heath or Lewes, 30 minutes to Gatwick, Brighton or Tunbridge Wells. Excellent train connections to London from Haywards Heath (45 minutes to Victoria). 
 
The cottage faces south, has its own secluded and enclosed garden, and is equipped to a high standard. Fully centrally heated throughout it is warm and comfortable in winter and all heating costs, linen and towels are included in the price. It sleeps 5 people in 3 bedrooms (double, twin, single) with room for a cot if required. The bathroom has a power shower over the bath.  
 
It provides a convenient base for visiting many of Sussex’s beautiful National Trust houses and gardens. Sheffield Park, Borde Hill, Wakehurst Place, Nymans, Bluebell Railway, Pooh Corner and the South of England showground at Ardingly are all nearby. Glyndebourne is only about 8 miles away and with the ticket returns system (sometimes you can get tickets literally hours before the performance) guests have been able to see some wonderful operas in the quintessentially English manner! 
 
Although there are local buses to Haywards Heath, Uckfield and Lewes these are generally hourly. Most visitors find it best to hire a car rather than be dependent on public transport. 
 
For those with babies we can provide a cot, high chair and selection of toys. There is a playground a short walk from the property.

    • There is ample parking in the little lane that leads only to the church car park and the house next door. Bedlinen and towels are provided and for those on longer stays these are changed weekly.

    Activities

    Lovely walks on the South Downs (10 minutes by car) and Ashdown Forest (10 minutes by car). The south coast is about 40 minutes by car.

    A non-returnable deposit of one third is required to confirm the booking; the balance is due 4 weeks before arrival. For cancellations there is a sliding scale, details on the booking terms. Payment is by £sterling cheque or bank transfer. Credit cards not accepted.
