Vacation Rental Description

Our home is part of one of the longest barns in Britain. It is full of character with a high, vaulted roof and beams everywhere! Converted in 2001 into 5 'houses', Lodge Hill Barn is part of a farm which is now used as a stables for local horse owners. We are part of a small, friendly community and, still within sight of the sea, we are just inside the newly designated South Downs National Park and there is doorstep access to walks and the local countryside. The house is not usually let, we have only just thought about doing so as we find we are spending our summers in France and California, with family. It is of course fully equipped as a family home, with lovely country views from the picture windows, easy parking and within 6 miles of the lively centres of Brighton, Lewes and Eastbourne. The ground floor, with garden access from the main bedroom and from the 'inside/outside room' (we never know what else to call it!) also has a childrens's room, for our grandchildren, a guest double bedroom and a piano teaching room, with two uprights. Upstairs is a large open plan room with woodburning stove, 3 piece suite, large dining table, grand piano, toilet and kitchen. there is a spiral staircase to a small gallery used an 'office'. The garden is 125' long, and split into a large patio, a big lawn bordered by mature trees and shrubs and leading to a good sized vegetable garden and shed. here is the place to lean on the 5-bar gate and watch the horses being taken to and from the fields, possibly with a glass of wine in your hand...

Lewes Castle and other historic sites are nearby, as well as several National Trust properties. Sussex villages in the locality have picture perfect tea rooms and traditional pubs, as well as new gastro pubs and, of course, fish and chips! Just down the hill is our local village of Piddinghoe, complete with village green, church, tennis court and village hall. It is on the river Ouse and in the summer, for one hour either side of high tide the hardy, foolish and fun-seekers swim from the jetty! Just along the coast are the 'Seven Sisters' which offer a spectacular cliff walk along the chalk edges, all the way to Eastbourne. Childrens activities nearby include Paradise Park, Drusilla's Zoo and of course Brighton Pier and its amusements and rides.

				Low Season Price:	£1,500 per Week
				High Season Price:	£1,500 per Week

We only think about renting in the summer and would prefer to exchange emails and contacts early and thoroughly. We would need a deposit of 20% on booking with the balance payable a month before arrival. £1500 damages deposit on arrival to be returned at the end of the week.

This is our home and only rented to exceptional people!

We live in a lovely converted barn, one of the longest in England and have a great location, close to countryside, the sea and coastal resorts. We have a house in France also which we use when we can and we also visit my brother in San Diego as often as possible. That means our Sussex house may be empty in the summer and we are happy to rent, if we find the right people, or they find us! We say 'right' because we only want those who will love and care for our house as we do. After many, many years in a modern London house, we are really appreciative of what we have here, a little bit of history. Also, we are musicians and there is a grand piano in the main room, and two uprights in the music teaching room, which means that we must have confidence that these will be respected. If you are gardeners, please feel free to do some here, use the vegetable patches too! There is a lot of horse activity at the end of the garden as people exercise their horses which are stabled on the farm.
