Crossing the bridge over the tumbling Ettrick Water, you arrive at ‘Brigend’. This charming and cosy traditional stone cottage has been lovingly restored and offers an ideal holiday haven for a couple or a small family. Small but perfectly formed, Brigend has everything; a fully fitted kitchen, multi-fuel stove in the cosy lounge area, a dining area, one double bedroom, a second bedroom with full size bunk beds, a shower room and a delightful ‘sit-ooterie’ leading off the kitchen to the rear of the cottage with wrought iron garden furniture.
The cottage is fully equipped with freeview TV, DVD, music centre and radio. The modernised kitchen has all mod cons including a washing machine, dishwasher, fridge, freezer and microwave. In addition to excellent fishing on your doorstep, activities include golf, walking, cycling, horse riding…or just relaxing! Edinburgh is just a day trip away. The cottage offers all you need for a perfect self-catering holiday in the south of Scotland.

The living area has a lovely multi-fuel stove with starter fuel supplied. We include towels and bed linen as well as toilet paper, shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, soap. In the kitchen there are paper towels, cling film, foil, basic herbs, salt & pepper. There are some local information books in the cottage as well as a local maps.
The cottage has an oven (with grill) and 4-ring hob, toaster, washing machine (powder and conditioner supplied), coffee maker, coffee grinder, iron & ironing board
There are some games, books, a basic collection of music and DVDs as well as a small music system and a radio.
In the small, but private outside area there is a wrought iron table and four chairs

Cyclists and walkers are well catered for with numerous trails close by. The area offers opportunities for bird-watching and there is excellent trout and salmon fishing in the Ettrick Water (part of the River Tweed system). The Borders has numerous interesting, challenging and reasonably priced golf courses, the nearest being Selkirk - just 7 miles away.
There are many historic castles, abbeys, stately homes and gardens within easy reach and the area offers golfers a variety of interesting courses. Alternatively, take a day trip to Edinburgh with its magnificent castle, Holyrood Palace, visitor attractions, shops and famous summer festival.
Ettrickbridge has a small play park and tennis court and there is a larger adventure playground at nearby Bowhill. The village pub is 200m from the cottage and offers good home cooked meals while the nearby town of Selkirk has a range of local amenities including shops and restaurants.
