Vacation Rental Description
Fauhope is a secluded country bandb house in the heart of the Scottish Borders in Melrose, with views that have inspired artists, writers, poets and musicians over the centuries.
The house has been renovated with great style and attention to detail, and it now offers a home from home that is at once elegant and inviting.
The bed and breakfast accommodation is nothing short of luxurious (awarded AA 5 Diamonds), and Fauhope provides an atmosphere of tranquillity that enables you to truly unwind.
There is a beautiful drawing room for reading, chatting and relaxing, and extensive grounds and gardens for roaming or enjoying a glass of wine on a summer evening.
If you prefer to wander further, the historic town of Melrose is only a short walk over the Georgian suspension bridge that traverses the River Tweed, while the house is ideally located for visiting places of interest throughout the Scottish Borders region.
If you fancy a day of more hustle and bustle, Edinburgh City Centre is only a 60-minute drive away.
Fauhope is one of those rare houses that guests want to keep a secret but can't help talking about - the perfect venue for wedding parties (marquees can be arranged in the garden if you would like to have your reception here), relaxing breaks, hunting/shooting/fishing trips and walking holidays.
No wonder guests return again and again.
The Fauhope Experience
Your stay at Fauhope will begin with a warm welcome from the owners, Sheila and Ian Robson (and their friendly Labradors!). You will be shown the dining room and drawing room, where you will be invited to enjoy a glass of sherry before being taken to your room.
Fauhope offers three guest bedrooms, all of which are spacious and en suite. The rooms have been furnished with luxury and comfort in mind, and all are unique.
So whether you are shown to the Turret Room, with its rich interior and its funky pink and white striped bathroom; Laing's Room, with its stunning views of the Eildon Hills and its deep, sophisticated Scottishness; or the Cottage Room, with its quirky antique boudoir feel and stand alone bath, you will not be disappointed!
Once you have settled in Sheila and Ian will do whatever they can to make your stay as relaxed and enjoyable as possible, so whether you need directions, reservations made at one of the delightful local restaurants, taxis booked or something more obscure, follow their house rules and 'just ask'.
Breakfast is served in the dining room and is abundant in flavour, whether you prefer to pick at the local berries or tuck into a Full Scottish Breakfast. Sheila and Ian used to run a restaurant and it shows - so enjoy!
During the day do as you wish - there is plenty to do in Melrose and throughout the Borders area. When you return to Fauhope in the evening you can relax into a book in the drawing room or take a stroll around the gardens.
Just one thing before you depart - don't forget to book your next stay!
