The Chapel House is situated in the beautiful loaction of Strathearn, 9 miles west of Perth and 5 miles from Auchterarder. The conservation village of Dunning is a 10 minute walk where guests can find two small shops, a home bakery, a good food Pub and a Post Office. There's also a childrens' play park, 9-holie golf course, two tennis courts and an outdoor bowling green. Chapel House is rated 4 stars by VisitScotland.
Well behaved Dogs are welcome at the Chapel House where there is an enclosed, but not necessarily dog-proof, garden. Walk from the door on the driveway of the former Duncrub House, or further afield, there are plenty of walks to choose from.
Chapel House is suitable for those with limited mobility and we can provide a ramp for the two steps into the house. The ground floor is easy for wheel chairs and there is a twin bedroom and bathroom.
The entrance hall, kitchen, complete with stained glass window and dining room with original panelling are built within the original chapel and corridor that attached the 1860's mansion house to the chapel. The sitting room, two bedrooms and two bathrooms are in a modern, architect designed extension.
Everything is provided in the house for guests comfort and bed linen, towels and heating are included in the rental.
The area is very accessible being around an hour's drive from Edinburgh and Glasgow. Flights to both cities and Ryanair to Prestwick are used by guests. There's a good train service from London to Perth and Bus transport is a good option for trips to Edinburgh, Glasgow, Stirling and Inverness if you would rather leave your car behind.
Locally visit Scone Palace, Huntingtower, Elcho Castles, Tullibardine and The Famous Grouse Distilleries. Around 30 minutes by car visit Stirling Castle, Dunkeld Cathedral, Falkland Palace. Around an hour's drive visit Blair Castle, St Andrews, Home of Golf, Kellie Castle, Glamis, birth place of the Queen Mother. Visit glorious gardens in Perthshire, such as Branklyn, explore historic remains such as the Roman Camp at Ardoch, visit the Dupplin Cross in St Serf's Church in Dunning itself. No day is long enough for the many interests and passtimes you can pursue when on holiday in this area. Research your family history in the Bell Library in Perth, enjoy a meal on one of the many restaurants and go to a concert in the Horsecross Concert Hall or theatre in Perth, Dundee, or Pitlochry.
Walk in the hills - with a guide if you'd like one. Go fishing, sailing or cycling.
A trip to Inverness will take around 2 hours by car, taking in the beautiful Strathspey Valley. Fort William is around 2 hours, as is Oban. The Trossachs and Loch Lomond National Park are easily reached as is Royal Deeside, Balmoral and the Castles of Aberdeenshire.
This is a golfer's paradise with more than 40 course in Perthshire alone. The Gleneagels Hotel courses are 7 miles, Whitemoss 2 miles, Auchterarder 5 miles and our local 9-hole course at the end of the driveway. Buy a Perthshire Green card before you come to save on Green fees.
