This traditional stone built cottage is newly renovated to high standard offering a homely base for your island stay. Situated on the Shapinsay shoreline nestling in the quiet conservation village of Balfour. The front gardens here meet the shores of Elwick Bay which is a very popular meeting place for seals.
Shapinsay is a beautiful, low- lying agricultural island ideal for walking or cycling. Relax with nature while bird/seal watching - RSPB Reserve nearby. Being on a small centrally located Island on the North side of Orkney Mainland the property is ideally situated for visiting Kirkwall and the Mainland whilst experiencing island life as well.
With 2 double bedrooms, 1 ensuite toilet/shower and 1 adjacent toilet/shower and an open plan living room/kitchen, this cozy but luxurious holiday cottage offers the perfect retreat for up to 4 guests in comfort.

Shapinsay is a wonderful place for walkers, nature lovers, artists and of course those who just wish to relax in peaceful surroundings. Small sandy beaches, rocky shores and the craigs (cliffs) on the east coast surround this green fertile island. Walking or cycling is undoubtedly the best way to get around.

With Kirkwall being just a 25min ferry trip from Shapinsay you can easily visit attractions on the Mainland of Orkney whether historic sites, festival events or perhaps go shopping and return to the island the same day. Also the perfect retreat after a day at the Orkney Library in Kirkwall which is a great place for those studying genealogy.

The frequent daily ferry service to and from Kirkwall starts from Shapinsay at 07.30am on weekdays with the last sailing from Kirkwall 5.30pm. For more details go to www.orkneyferries.co.uk

You can also hire a private boat for trips to and from town, fishing or sightseeing.

All weeks include

• Fresh cut flowers (when available).
For stay of more that 1 wk there is optional cleaning and bed change for additional fee of £30

A £100 deposit (per week booked) will secure your booking. The balance is due two weeks before the start of your holiday. If you have to cancel within four weeks of your arrival date, then the deposit will only be refunded if we manage to let out the cottage for the duration of the dates you originally booked. Week runs Friday to Friday. Arrival time 2.45pm - Departure time 10.30am. However we are flexible whenever possible. For inquiries please email or phone and I'll get back to you as soon as possible
