Vacation Rental Description
The Anchorage is a delightful self catering holiday cottage on the Isle of Skye located on the foreshore of one of the best holiday locations in Scotland.
Overlooking Loch Alsh and the heather clad mountains of the Scottish Highlands beyond The Anchorage is the perfect all seasons self catering holiday accommodation for seaside-loving, mountain-walking, wildlife-watching, peace-searching people who love wilderness beaches, gastronomic delights and a touch of the Celtic.
A gate leads from the garden right on to the high tide line, from where one can fish or just sit and watch the yachts, naval and fishing boats come and go, including the occasional submarine or cruise liner. Opposite the house is the lighthouse-keeper’s cottage Eilean Bàn where author Gavin Maxwell (Ring of Bright Water) lived with his otters.
Kyleakin is perfectly situated on Skye, just a few minutes from the bridge and within easy reach of the varied attractions of all parts of the island. Although very peaceful, there is always something going on in the channel or the fishing harbour/marina round the corner.
The Anchorage is the perfect choice for a self catering holiday on the Isle of Skye and is cosy enough to accommodate one or two couples, but spacious enough for a larger family, with beds for a maximum of six people.
The Anchorage is primarily designed for the owner's use and they have furnished it tastefully, with everything one could need for a stress-free self-catering holiday on the beautiful Isle of Skye.
There is a washing machine, dishwasher, fridge-freezer and also an Aga, plus a convector cooker/microwave and hob. The owners want guests to enjoy the house as they do, so don't worry about TV/video, hairdryer, WiFi internet, iron, bedding - they are all provided (except towels).
The Anchorage has central heating throughout and a solid fuel stove in the sitting room. All rooms overlook the sea.
Outside the holiday house there is parking for one car. The garden leads right on to the foreshore - great for crabbing, fishing, diving, windsurfing and boating. Larger craft can be launched from the harbour which is within a minute's walk of the house.
