The cottage was converted from a substantially stone built croft house in 1970-80 into a well-designed family house. It stands in a prime position, commanding fantastic views over Loch Torridon towards the torridon mountains.

The cottage will sleep from two to five people Maximum. Ideal for two couples with a child. There are three bedrooms in the house (1-double, 1 twin & 1 Single).
The small single bedroom is accessed through the main double bedroom (ideal for a child).
There are two bathrooms, (one being en-suite).

Downstairs in the sitting room there is an open fire & a wood- burning stove in the dining room. Coal and Peat are provided for the open fire in the sitting room. (It is a very cosy cottage).

Kenmore is a sheep farming community & the cottage stands amid the communal grazing grounds – We therefore ask dog owners to be extra vigilant. Dogs are allowed in the cottage with prior arrangement with the owners.

The township of Kenmore consists of 10 Houses - Flora's House is set back from the other houses in an elevated and private position amongst the communal grazing grounds. It is a comfortable cottage - making for an ideal retreat.

An old stone bridge and track lead up to the cottage. There is ample car parking space adjacent to the garden gate.
Secluded sandy beaches are a short drive along the Applecross coast road.

Fresh seafood can be bought locally within Kenmore and also in some of the neighbouring townships.

The Applecross Peninsula in Wester Ross only became accessible to road traffic in the mid 1970’s. Prior to that, the small coastal communities could only be reached by sea. Although single track roads now run around the edge of the Peninsula, it remains one of the most unspoilt areas in Scotland.

Otters and Dolphins have occasionally been spotted swimming and playing in the sheltered sea Loch of Kenmore. Every season there is an abundance of wildlife to watch from the door step of the cottage - from Cuckoo’s in the spring to flocks of field fair on their migration route in autumn – it is truly a nature lover’s paradise!

Applecross is a pleasant and scenic 20 to 25 minute drive from the cottage using the spectacular coastal road.
Applecross and Shieldaig boast fine pubs and restaurants specialising in the fresh seafood of the area.

The Applecross /Torridon region is an area of stunning landscapes and outstanding natural beauty. The magnificent Torridon hills rise in steep terraces with quartzite caps overlying rich sandstone bedrock. There are numerous Munros to challenge hill climbers – Slioch, Liathach, Beinn Alligan and Sgorr Ruadh to name a few. Less demanding walking may be found on the Applecross Peninsula itself following the numerous paths which linked the townships before road traffic.

Despite its relative remoteness, the area is well served with general stores, Post Offices and cafes at Torridon, Applecross and Shieldaig. Filling stations are located at Applecross and Lochcarron. (Closed on Sundays).
The general area is a Hillwalker's & Fisherman's paradise & renowned for it's scenic beauty and abundance of wild life. Kenmore is approx 7 miles from Shieldaig.

Flights to Inverness Airport include return trips from Luton, Gatwick, Bristol, Belfast and East Midlands with either ’Easyjet’ /or ’Ryan Air’.
If flying, then car hire will be essential. Flora’s House is on the West coast and is approximately two hours drive from Inverness.

Biking, Boating, Fishing, Hiking, Kayaking, Mountain Biking, Water Sports and Rental

The sea lochs of Torridon and Shieldaig provide an opportunity for fishing and kayaking. The Gulf Stream flows along the west side of the Peninsula and in addition to moderating the climate adds to the enjoyment of water sports. The local Mountain and Sea guides offer an opportunity for Kayaking in the sheltered sea lochs at hourly or daily rates. This is a marvellous way of spotting wildlife as well as having an adventure.

The cottage is fully equipped and comfortable throughout. The kitchen has a built in electric oven with a grill, ceramic hob, fridge, freezer, microwave, electric kettle, toaster, slow cooker, stainless steel sink unit, All cutlery, crockery and cooking utensils are provided.

Please note that bedding is provided, but not linen.
Please bring sheets, pillow cases, towels and tea towels.

Upstairs there is a second bathroom. There are three bedrooms sleeping up to a maximum of five people. - (1 x double, 1 x twin & 1 single). In the small store room there is a spare folding bed and mattress and a fold away travel cot.

To the rear of the cottage is a narrow store room with an automatic washing machine. There is ample car parking space adjacent to the garden gate.

The cottage will accommodate from two to a maximum of five people. (Ideal for 4 Adults and a child).

The cottage is let on a weekly basis from 3pm on Saturday and expires at 10am on the last Saturday of the period.

Coal is provided within the rent but Logs are not inclusive.

Guests must bring their own Linen:- Sheets , Pillow Cases, duvet covers, Towels and tea Towels.

The cottage must be left clean and tidy - ready for the next occupants by 10am on the last Saturday of the let.

Dogs are allowed in the cottage with prior arrangement with the owners and on the understanding that they are well housetrained.
(A maximum of two well trained medium sized dogs are allowed - please state breed of dog).
