Vacation Rental Description
All our cottages are in a peaceful rural environment amongst woods and fields with views of our rolling hills and streams. The estate is rich in wildlife and visitors may see deer, foxes, badgers, squirrels, and a vast variety of birds as well as farm livestock. Nearly all the cottages are traditional stone historic buildings, that were occupied until recently by tennants and the estate workers. The Carmichael Estate lies about 5 miles south of Lanark, by car one can reach Edinburgh and Glasgow in aabout 45 minutes. Carmichael is well situated as a touring base being within easy reach of the Borders, Peebles, Stirling, Perth, Ayr and Carlisle. Our cottages range from 2 to 4 star (Scottish Tourist Board rating) and sleep from 2 to 7 people in various different sized cottages. You are welcome to come for a short or long break and will find plenty to do in the surrounding area. There is much to keep you busy on the estate with a private Tennis court for guests use, private fishing pond and multiple walks including a history walk around the main historical sites on the estate.
