Nestling within the unspoilt Galloway Forest Park this well presented detached cottage is the perfect base for nature lovers, walkers wishing to take advantage of the beautiful forest trails or mountain bikers wishing to ride the famous 7 stanes mountain bike trails. These start from the Kirroughtree Visitor Centre located a 500m walk from the gate. The visitor centre also has an adventure playground, a tearoom and information. 
 
The views from the cottage windows are superb looking across Bargally Glen to Cairnsmore of fleet, the second highest of the Galloway Hills 
 
Nearby attractions include the Solway coast,sandy beaches, the rolling Galloway Hills, peaceful lochs,rushing rivers and burns, and countless historic sites. 
 
Places to visit include Threave Castle and Gardens,Loch Trool/Glen Trool, the Artists town of Kirkcudbright, seaside town of Portpatrick and nearby Logan botanical gardens, and the Mull of Galloway, Scotlands most Southerly point. 
 
For bird lovers,the garden is a hive of activity with feeders (food provided)and nesting boxes and, there are RSPB sites nearby,at The Wood of Cree and the Mull of Galloway also a Red Kite feeding centre at Lauriston and an Osprey viewing site at nearby Wigtown, also famed for its numerous bookshops and the September book festival. 
 
Golf courses, fishing, hill climbing, cycling, and bird watching provide a holiday as wenergetic or as relaxed as you choose. 
 
Whilst having a feeling of isolation,it is only 3 miles to the attractive market town of Newton Stewart with supermarket,a variety of shops, pubs and places to eat. Afew miles further and you will find quality restaurants at Gatehouse of Fleet

  • There are 3 good sized bedrooms,the double having an en-suite shower room.The other 2 bedrooms have twin beds. All rooms are well furnished and have ample storage space. The kitchen is newly equipped, with stainless steel appliances, including double oven, 5 ring hob, built in fridge and dishwasher and plenty of crockery/cutlery. A seperate utility room houses a washing machine,belfast sink, overhead dryer, small chest freezer, and a modern combi boiler which provides Central heating and constant hot water. A tumble dryer is located in the attached garage. There is a seperate dining room with seating for 6 The comfortably furnished sitting room has books CDs videos,& DVDs.It also has a living flame gas fire to keep cosy all year round. Floors throughout are carpeted or laminated. Outside there is a well fenced garden with lawn,terraced flower beds,and secure parking for several vehicles.Garden furniture and a BBQ are provided.

      Low Season Price: £300 per Week
      High Season Price: £510 per Week
         

    The cottage can be booked from Saturday to Saturday (minimum rental 1 week). This may vary at Xmas /New Year to avoid changevers on main holiday days. Short breaks available in low season subject to availability Prices are as follows:- Low Season £300 Mid season £350-£450(depending on dates) High season£510 Pets go free(only well trained dogs that will not be left unattended in the property. Bed linen is included but we do not provide towels. A booking deposit of £100 is required (non returnable) Balance payable 8 weeks prior to commencement.(returnable if property can be relet) Preferred payment method is by cheque to address provided at time of enquiry.
