Situated on the border of the distinctive landscapes of the Peak District - the limestone dales of "the white peak" and the gritstone moorland of "the dark peak" – is the peaceful, idyllic village of Great Hucklow. Providing a diverse and contrasting range of scenery, this lovely little settlement is a popular destination amongst walkers in the region. With a village pub serving food and interesting beers, this traditional community hosts an unusual well-dressing and gala day in the second week of August, as well as providing spectacular lights at Christmas. The neighbouring village of Eyam, poignantly known as "the plague village", and nearby Tideswell - home to "the Cathedral of The Peak" – are well worth visiting, as is Bradwell, a historic lead mining village and gateway to The Caverns and The Pennines.
