Vacation Rental Description
The Byre sleeps four in real comfort, with two ensuite bedrooms, both with six foot wide superking beds which can be arranged as twin beds if required. Both ensuite bathrooms have whirlpool baths, with a powerful shower over, and our guests all appreciate the quality toiletries that we include.
Set in a fabulous remote location, surrounded by fells and farmland, with views out to The Howgills, Wild Boar Fell and Mallerstang, yet only a mile from the village of Ravenstonedale with pub/restaurant and local shop. The area is a haven for walkers and cyclists, and those who simply love relaxing in peaceful surroundings in the countryside. We're privileged to have Red Squirrels in our grounds, and for many of our guests it's the first time they've seen one. Our grounds lead straight out onto Ravenstonedale Common for a gentle stroll, or there are plenty of challenging walks as well!
Our location means you have a choice of both the Lake District and The Yorkshire Dales to explore, as well as the local attractions.
The Byre is one of three cottages in a sympathetic conversion of our magnificent stone barn, and all three cottages have a Visit Britain Four Star rating, each with a Gold Award reflecting our standards.
The Byre is "upside down", with the two bedrooms on the ground floor, and the living area above. The cottage has underfloor heating throughout, powered by our ground source heat pumps, and there is also a logburning stove in the lounge for an extra cosy or romantic touch. As well as the comfortable sofas in the lounge, there is an overlooking gallery with a further sofa and a card table. You'll find a lovely antique settle where you can sit and look out of the french doors and keep an eye out for the Red Squirrels, or you might like to sit out on your balcony, which has stone steps leading down to the ground, and where you can smoke if you wish.
The entrance to The Byre is at ground level, where the old stable door leads into a porch with lots of space for wet clothes and muddy boots, and lockable storage for cycles. The front door then leads through your utility room with washing machine and tumble dryer.
If you don't fancy eating out, you can enjoy a meal in the well furnished dining area, and the kitchen is fitted and fully equipped including a dishwasher so that you don't have to wash up on your holiday!
