This third floor apartment, accessed by lift, is located in a fully rebuilt historic granary that overlooks the harbour in Berwick-upon-Tweed.The estuary of this famous salmon river, the Tweed, passes below. You can see the medieval town walls through the windows and watch the swans and seals drift in on the tide.A telescope is provided for bird and seal watching.
The flat is beautifully decorated in contemporary style and had oak floors, central heating and double glazing. Modern oak furniture, leather sofas, original Art work and antique rugs make it a very comfortable holiday home for two people. There is a large wall mounted flat screen tv, a blu-ray DVD/CD player for your entertainment. The kitchen area has all modern appliances and cooking equipment including a washer/dryer.
The walk in shower room is fully tiled, has a lovely marble wash basin, underfloor heating and an inset ceiling radio for your comfort.
The bedroom has a queen size bed and flat screen wall mounted tv/radio with freeview. The tariff includes all heating and organic Egyptian cotton bed linen and fluffy towels. We also provide a Welcome Basket with Border Specialities such as local honey, home made jam or chutney, organic soap, locally made chocolate and a bottle of local beer. Basic groceries - tea, ground coffee, milk, free range eggs etc.come with every booking
The Northumberland Coast Path and the L.S. Lowry Trail pass in front of the Granary. The beautiful island of Lindisfarne or Holy Island is fifteen minutes drive away or a good half day coastal walk along the beaches and cliffs. If you come without car then there is an excellent network of local buses and trains to help you explore. Bicycle and car hire is available locally. Covered car parking is provided in a secure courtyard accessed through electronic gates.
Berwick is a historic town with two arched gateways and Elizabethan walls, like York. There are many Georgian houses, a museum, galleries, a theatre and a twice weekly market. There are some lovely sandy beaches in the town and on the coast, south and north. The Borders region boasts many stately homes, abbeys and castles and is steeped in the history of the Border Reivers (cross border robbers and sheep stealers). Alnwick castle and famous Water garden is an essential visit.

The apartment is ideal for the less mobile guest as all the rooms are on one level. There are no steps to access the building and a lift takes you to the door. There are lever taps and level entry shower within the apartment. There is oak flooring with rugs if you have an allergy problem. No pets or smokers are permitted. All linen and towels are organic Egyptian cotton. Organic hand made soap is provided in the bathroom.

Berwick-upon-Tweed is a historic town with great transport links, being on the A1 and on the East Coast main line to London and Edinburgh. It has many Georgian houses, shops restaurants and a thriving cinema/theatre. The coastal and riverside footpaths pass the door of the apartment so that you need not use the car. Stately homes abound in both Northumberland and Berwickshire. Edinburgh is 45 minutes away by train so enjoying the Edinburgh Fringe and International Festival is easy.
