This is a small self catering cottage in the village of Newton-by-the-sea only yards ( maybe 30!) from the beach, with no roads to cross, known as St Mary’s haven with Dunstanburgh castle in the distance.
The cottage is single storey and not luxurious but is adequately and comfortably furnished with:
Sitting/dining room with open fire, colour TV. Bed settee in sitting room.
Kitchen with sea views across fields towards the sea and Newton point and door to garden, electric oven, hob, fridge with small freezer compartment, microwave, kettle, toaster etc. No washing machine or dryer.
Bedroom 1 – 1 double bed.
Bedroom 2 – 2 single beds.
Bathroom with bath, over bath electric shower, whb.
Separate WC.
Private parking.
The enclosed garden, with table and chairs, has the wonderful view across the fields towards the sea.
All electricity included. Night storage heating.
Pets welcome
We do not provide linen.

Only yards down the road towards the beach is a square of Fisherman's Cottages now mainly owned by The National Trust with the Ship Inn and it's micro brewery situated in one corner. The nearest general store is 3 miles away in Embleton. The bay, flanked by dunes, is an ideal spot for sailing, windsurfing, canoeing and swimming. Behind the dunes there is a bird hide and sanctuary, coastal walks are on the doorstep with, castles, riding and golf nearby. Alnwick with its Castle, the home of the Duke of Northumberland, and now famous for it's Garden is 8 miles to the South West, Seahouses with trips to The Farne Islands is 8 miles to the north with BamburghThe Grace Darling Museum a couple of miles further on. Lindisfarne or Holy Island is about 20 miles to the north is well worth a visit, tides permitting, with the lovely town of Berwick-upon-Tweed just a few miles further on. Newcastle Upon Tyne with its lively Quayside, Baltic art gallery and Sage Music Centre is 30 miles south.

Cleaning:
There is a real problem finding suitable cleaners in this very busy holiday area and so we have decided not to provide cleaning services. We ask you to leave the house as you would expect to find it. We will take a cleaning deposit of £100 and this will be refunded within 2 weeks providing there has been no major complaint from the next occupier.
The advantage of this is that you can stay in the cottage until the next people arrive. We will ask people not to arrive until 4 pm.
You can choose either to stay and agree with the new people that you have left it correctly or if you decide to leave earlier we advise that you take a few measures which are listed below in case of a problem with the next renters.
a) You will find a folder containing 2 sheets and stamped addressed envelope.
b) Sheet 1 is a cleaning schedule with “tick” boxes to help you to remember everything. Cleaning should not take you more than one hour.
c) Sheet 2 is an inventory which you can also tick. If you break something please record it on this sheet. We do not deduct from the cleaning deposit for the odd breakage or if a machine breaks down.

Bedrooms
Each bed has a waterproof mattress protector and a soft over protector and 2 pillows per person 80 x 50 cm
You are asked to bring your own linen and ensure that the protectors are clean when you leave.

The cottage is basic, not luxurious, but comfortable with hot water, cooking facilities, and heating by night storage heaters. There is a double bedsettee in the sitting room.

High Season Price : £360 per Week

We take 20% of the total booking price to confirm the reservation with the balance payable 6 weeks before the commencement of the holiday along with the cleaning deposit of £100.

We require a cleaning deposit of £100 as we do not have a cleaner. It is imperative that you leave the place at least as clean as you find it.

In case of complaint:
As most people now have digital cameras and telephone we recommend that you take photos of anything that you are not happy with on arrival, and that you have photos to give an idea as to how you left the place.
