Vacation Rental Description
This vacation house is ideal for couples and families looking to explore London from a central base. Here in historic St Pancras, you are in the centre of London, but the residential street is quiet and tucked away from the crowds. Built in the 1830s, the house has been restored to retain its Victorian features and polished wooden floors, but fully modernised to include an architect-designed kitchen, luxury bathroom with steam room and in-built CD stereo, air-con in the master bedroom and a charming patio garden. New to the vacation rentals market, it has been re-decorated with new furnishings and kitchen equipment. There is a considerable library of books, DVDs and videos and original artworks hang on the walls.
The house is laid out over four storeys, starting on the lower ground floor, you find the fully fitted designer kitchen (5-ring hob & oven, microwave, chrome fridge/freezer with ice maker, dishwasher, coffee machine and plenty of crockery, glass and tableware). There is a separate utility room (washing machine and separate tumble dryer), and a family living area with sofa and armchair (folds into a single bed). This leads to a dining area which has an extendable table to seat 8. Huge double doors fold back to open the entire space onto the patio garden area which is paved and beautifully planted with table and seating for outdoor dining; it makes a lovely outdoor spot for a meal or a quiet drink. Steps lead to the upper garden area and a gate to the communal garden area. The shared communal garden is private to the street and cannot be accessed by the public. It is an extraordinary haven from the busy city with plentiful trees, planting, lawns and wildlife. There is a very safe children's play area with climbing frames and slides.
Coming back into the house walk up to the ground floor and on your way pass the shower room (power shower, basin and toilet) on a mezzanine level. On the ground floor you find a large open plan living room with wooden floors, traditional fireplace, leather sofa, armchair (folds into single bed), TV, dvd, video, CD stereo, desk and library including books on art, architecture, local interest and novels. Double doors open to a balconied terrace with seating and views of the large communal garden. Upstairs to the first floor leads to a double bedroom with queen-sized double bed (5 feet wide), storage and traditional fireplace and also another double bedroom with queen-sized double bed and storage, which looks out over the gardens below. At the top of the house on the second floor you will find the master bedroom with its queen-sized double bed (5 feet wide), a single bed, air-conditioning, CD stereo and TV. A large bathroom with roll top bath, WC, sink and separate double steam room and multi powered shower unit. There is an inbuilt CD stereo system in the steamroom.
There are excellent transport links (buses and tubes 3 mins away), but you will find that you can walk to many of London's finest attractions including the British Museum in Bloomsbury, Regents Park and Covent Garden with its street theatre, opera house and shopping piazza is a 25 min walk. London's West End with its fabulous shopping (Regent St, Bond St, Carnaby St), theatres, art galleries and landmarks (Trafalgar Square, Piccadilly Circus, Big Ben) is close by. You can take a 20 min walk along the canal to trendy Camden market or walk 10 mins to Islington's vibrant bars, restaurants, boutiques and antique shops. Heading to the South East, you can stroll around the City of London, Europe's financial centre with its famous buildings (St Paul's Cathedral, the Gherkin, Tower of London, Tower Bridge, Wren churches).
