This fabulous apartment - recently refurbished to a very high standard - has all the mod cons you could wish for and is perfect for business executives or discerning holidaymakers wanting a stylish 'home from home' in London. Located in the heart of lively Balham, it's just a 2 minute walk away from Balham Underground and Mainline Stations - having you into the 'West End' in minutes. Balham has a huge choice of bars, restaurants and shops, including both Waitrose and Sainsburys. The famous Bedford Pub/Banana Cabaret live music and comedy venue is at the end of the road!  
 
Only a few steps down off the street level, you'll find easy access into the flat - even with the heaviest luggage. The apartment itself has a light and bright, open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner with a 40" flatscreen LCD TV over a hole-in-the-wall gas fireplace. There is also a wireless internet connection. The lounge gives onto a private terrace and then onto a beautiful garden with lawn, flowerbeds and a decked patio. It's a haven of tranquility after the buzz of the 'big city' and great for a spot of relaxation or a BBQ. The limestone bathroom has features normally only found in a 5 star hotel, the designer kitchen comes fully equipped and the quiet bedroom has plenty of storage cupboards.  
 
And if it's wide open spaces you're after,- for a stroll or a jog - Clapham, Wandsworth and Tooting Commons(boasting Europe's biggest open air swimming pool) are all within a few minutes walk.  
 
And then where do you start trying to describe London's attractions? The history, the famous locations and buildings, the hundreds of activities to do, the thousands of shows and events on offer...and that's just in Central London. 
 
Even the 'highlights' depend on what takes your fancy. If you're a 'first timer' to London, of course you must see the Palace of Westminster (Houses of Parliament and Big Ben), the London Eye, Buckingham Palace, Trafalgar Square and Nelson's Column, Downing Street, St Paul's, The Mall, Leicester Square, Covent Garden, Tower Bridge, the Tower of London, Harrods, the British Museum... 
 
But where to stop? Take in a West End show? Of course. Do a cruise down the Thames? Perhaps. What about Madame Tussauds? The London Dungeon? The National Gallery? The Tate? The London Aquarium? London Zoo? Hyde Park? Greenwich? Hampton Court? HMS Belfast? Kew Gardens... 
 
The fact is there are many many sources of information on such things, from websites to Tourist Information, so we shall not even try and do justice to London in a paragraph or two here. It is quite simply one of the world's great cities, where you could spend weeks and still not feel you have seen everything worth seeing. You pays your money, and you takes your choice, but one thing's for sure...you'll never be bored!

  • Open-plan living area with a fully integrated designer kitchen with funky modern lighting. 37 inch LCD TV with Freeview on a 180 degree swivel bracket. Dbl bed with memory foam mattress, dbl sofa bed in lounge with 5 cm core top mattress. Baby cot/high chair/waterproof bed protectors available on request. Lxurious bath/shower, wall-mounted hair dryer, heated mirror (anti condensation). Desks in both the bedroom and lounge. Private Entrance. The landscaped garden is accessed from the lounge via French doors, leading firstly on to a private decked area and then onto the beautiful garden with a further decked patio. There is a table & chairs with seating for 6, as well as two sun loungers and a BBQ. On-street parking available; daily permits £5 each and should be ordered through us at time of booking as we must obtain them from our local council office. Otherwise metered parking is available from 09:30 - 17:30 on Monday through Saturday (max 4 hrs).

  • As well as all the coffee bars, shops and supermarkets you might expect there are also excellent restaurants including 'Harrisons' (part-owned by celebrity chef Rick Stein). There are bars aplenty too, perhaps the best known being 'The Bedford'. Winner of the Evening Standard award for Best London Pub 2002, the 'Banana Cabaret' part of the Bedford is a famous live music and comedy venue that attracts big names week in week out. (And is just at the end of the road from the apartment!).  
     
    Overground and underground stations a 2 min walk from the apartment. The Northern Line tube can take you into Leicester Sq in just 20 min, the overground will have you in Clapham Junction in 5, and Victoria Station in 15.  
     
    Famous sporting venues like Wimbledon and Twickenham close-by; St. Georges Hospital near too. Balham itself has a large gym and leisure centre. Tooting Lido - the biggest outdoor pool in Europe - is just a 10 min walk away.

    We live in Balham, in SW London & are specialists in short term lets in the area. We are continually expanding our portfolio of holiday lets to accommodate the needs of not only holidaymakers, but other people who require stays from as little as 3 nights such business executives, those visiting family in Balham/Clapham/Streatham/Tooting/Colliers Wood, or people temporarily requiring a home due to improvements being made to their own & even those who've been unfortunate enough to be forced out of their homes due to accidental damages like fire. Whatever your reason, our comfortable and clean 'home from homes' will provide the high level short term accommodation you require. All of our apartments are within 20 minutes of the centre of London and very close to a Tube or Rail station, or both.

    Mike bought his first flat in London about 12 years ago - this is now known as 'Fernlea View'. I emigrated from Canada in 2001 and we have both stayed living in the heart of Balham because we love the vibe of it and the excellent transportation links into Central London. Victoria station is only 11 minutes away on the overground train and we can get to the West End in 15 minutes.

    All our our London holiday lets are done to the same high standards and are kept immaculately clean. We take great pride in what we do and draw from a combined 40 years of working in the travel industry. Mike has his own property development company, specialising in basement conversions (Balham Basement Company), so it's easy for me to ensure that all of our places are kept up whilst I concentrate on everything else that is required to provide a comfortable 'home from home' for our guests.

    In addition to operating holiday lets in South West London, where we live, we also have a lovely characterful cottage is the Sierra de Aracena in Spain, just northwest of Seville. We love the lush green mountains in this unique area of Spain that doesn't get dry and burnt out like the rest does. It's great for walking, good food & wine and experiencing the 'real Spain'. We try to stay in Casa Castano as often as possible. We walk from little village to village, stopping for tapas and a beer and then, tired out, enjoy the great views from our large roof terrace whilst listening to the birds. In the winter, spring and autumn we always have a real wood fire burning. It's the ultimate place to chill out!
