We have had a wonderful week here in The Robins. We received an extremely warm welcome and the bottle of wine and homemade fruit cake were a lovely surprise.
There are some lovely walks from right outside the door. Linacre Woods and Reservoirs are well worth the effort and our dogs enjoyed it too.
Chatsworth is an excellent day out, even though the front of it is covered up for construction work at the moment. I guess we'll have to come back! Bakewell, which is a fantastic little town where you can easily spend a long day looking round and buying Bakewell Puddings!
The Gate Inn across the road is excellent, really good food and good ale on tap! We really couldn't have wished for a better stay, even the weather has been non-stop sunshine. Allan and Barbara, we thank you.

W have both enjoyed our stay at The Robins - a beautifully presented country cottage with everything you could wish for and the best of attention from Barbara and Allan. The welcome pack was lovely - especially Barbara's homemade cake. I must mention the very comfortable bed (kingsize) which is a bonus when away from home.
Yes, I'd like to come again in the Autumn and would recommend The Robins - not just 5 star but 10!

For many years, converting our barn into 2 holiday cottages had been a dream. This was fulfilled in 2007 when we retired from full-time employment in education.
Our 2 cottages are very comfortable and full of character. We care very much about our local environment and have added an orchard and wild life garden to our existing extensive gardens (flowers, lawns and vegetables).
We believe we offer the best of both worlds. There is an excellent local pub/restaurant across the road and walks to the Linacre Valley.
Chatsworth House, home of the Duke of Devonshire, is a 20 minute drive. Also nearby is Hardwick Hall, Haddon Hall, Bolsover Castle and Renishaw Hall (recently opened to public and what a gem!) - all worth a visit. We are regular visitors.
We can recommend many local pub/restaurants including The Gate Inn (our local), Fox and Goose (Wigley which we can see), The Eyre Arms at Hassop (excellent game pie) and the Devonshire Arms at Pilsley (designed by the Duchess of Devonshire)and with great food.
You probably realise that good food is important to us. We believe our guests share our concern. As we have a B & B in our farmhouse, next to our cottages, we are happy to offer breakfast to our cottage guests as an extra. Our extensive menu of local and home produce items is sure to wet your appetite.
There are plenty of maps, walks and tourist literature in each cottage. We can provide storage for bicycles and quad bikes.
