The norfolk broads as we know them today are about 5000 acres, covering over 200 miles of navigable waterways, in other words, lots of opportunity for fishing, rowing, sailing, motor boating or simply sitting in your favourite pub or restaurant watching the wildlife, fish, ducks and swans. Take a ride on a traditional paddle steamer or one of the many river boat trips. If your walking, cycling or hiking you won't be dissapointed here either. There is even a real steam railway with a regular service.
Nearby Wroxham is considered by many to be the capital of the Norfolk Broads. The town has grown up around the river so many of the facilities are "waterside" but can be just as easily accessed from landside. The choice of bars, restaurants, pubs, and quaint tea rooms will give you the chance to observe folks just "messing around on the water" until you realise that you can hire your own boat for the day and join in the fun.
