Fethiye is a Mediterranean town of unique beauty with it's climate, natural attractions &cultural heritage and is located in the south western part of Turkey. It has a beautiful harbour, many shops, restaurants, bars & a wealth of historical & cultural sights. the bazaar with it's narrow, shady streets and tiny squares make shopping and dining out an enjoyable treat. Nearly Olu Deniz is the ideal place to go if you want to relax or be a bit more adventurous and try the paragliding. Calis (pronounced Chalis) Beach is the best place to watch the sun go down and can be reached via the 'water-taxi'. It also has a fantastic selection of bars and restaurants. Hisaronu is situated in between Olu Deniz & Fethiye and it's nightlife is spectacular.
There are many things to do in Fethiye and the surrounding areas and the locals are extremely accomodating and friendly. This is a really safe place to holiday and once you have been you will go back time & time again.
Choose from activities such as Jeep Safari (which is a must but be prepared to get wet and muddy) on which you will see sights such as the Trout Farm, carpet making factory and the Gorge. There is also a water park located between Fethiye & Olu Deniz. There are water sports at the beach at Olu Deniz including para gliding and scuba diving. Another nearby beach is at Calis where the waiters will bring you a bottle of wine for you to enjoy whilst on the beach watching th sun go down.
Another must is hiring a boat for the day and travelling around the many beautiful bays in the area. This is a fantastic day out with lunch included. With a stop in each bay you can get out and swim in the gorgeous clean turquoise sea.
We would recommend that you try a Turkish Bath (the massage is fantastic and refreshing but do it at the start of your holiday so that you can keep your tan).
There is a regular Tuesday market in Fethiye to enjoy the local culture at an amazing buy anything style of market from fresh fruit and vegetables to shoes and video games. Hisoranu is a bus ride away and the nightlife is spectacular. With some amazing restaurants and sports bars it really is not to be missed.
