Dalyan ia a nature-lovers' paradise, a secret location known only to a few lucky people, who want to escape into the past, into an age of priviledged tourism, away from the hustle and bustle of the modern world. It is small town on the south-western coast of Turkey, yet only 25 km from the International Dalaman Airport.
Dalyan is set in the centre of a broad delta, whose natural beauty remains unspoilt, and has been designated an environmentally protected area. Water taxis will take you to the famous Iztuzu beach, a five kilometer stretch of fine sand, where turtles come to lay their eggs. Many species of birds come here as they migrate to Africa and people come to relax and explore.
The town is famous for its Lycian tombs carved into the rockface of the river bank, its mud baths and ancient ruins, and the impressive Koycegiz lake. There are some delightful river-front restaurants, bars and shops and a few discos.
