Ephesus and the ruins of the Temple of Artemis (one of the Seven Wonders of the World). Ephesus is the largest and probably best preserved ancient city in Turkey. St Pauls letters to the Ephesians are recorded in the bible, making this an important early seat for Christianity. The Ephesian streets are packed with amphitheatres, murals and mosaics, baths, fountains, brothels and columns which help to give you an idea of how a real Roman city functioned.
Other sites to see include: Assos (Aristotle's Academy), Troy, the Pergamom Acropolis (ruins of Zeus Altar ), the House of Virgin Mary and the Basilica Of St John, Miletus (the city of the Ancient Greek Philosopher, Thales), the Mausoleum of Halicarnassus in Bodrum and the Castle of St. Peter
