Vacation Rental Description
Casa Montana is a stunning Spanish townhouse in the heart of Bocairent nestled in the Sierra Mariola mountains just an hour away from several award winning beaches such as Gandia and Valencia. Green and lush, we enjoy the best of all worlds - pure mountain air and spring water from the font, the best Valencian traditional cooking, several busy bustling bars and of course tranquility away from all the madding crowd.
We bought Casa Montana in 2004 and spent several years completely transforming the property which hadn't been lived in for over 30 years. The house has been renovated to a very high standard keeping lots of the original spanish features. It is within easy reach to all amenities, including the local Saturday market for fabulous fresh produce, bargain hunting, and many excellent restaurants for eating out.
The property benefits from its own Private terraces on the ground and first floor. Very comfortable spacious living room, a large dining room which can comfortably seat 8 with a cosy log burning fire. You can even dine al fresco on the spacious ground floor terrace. We also have a fantastic basement perfect for entertaining. The basement has it's own private bar, pool table and chill out rooms. We love using this space when we come on holiday as it's perfect for keeping the kids happy. Just what you need while you're enjoying a glass or two of spanish red!
The accommodation at our four bedroomed townhouse is set over 6 floors. First floor the accommodation consists of 2 king sized suites. One at the rear with it's own private terrace. One to the front of the house with 2 balconies overlooking the street. On the 2nd floor you will find another king size suite to the front of the house, again with 2 balconies over looking the street and a twin-bedded room. In each room we have tried to keep all the original features including the original beamed ceilings and the beautiful antique doors.

Bocairent is packed with history. You can walk through the old town with its narrow cobbled streets, small squares and fountains and get a feel for what it was like hundreds of years ago. The unique bullring carved into the rock is the oldest in Valencia, dating back to 1843. There are two museums, the Archaeological Museum which has pieces from the Sarsa Cave, one of the most important Neolithic sites in the Mediterranean and the Moor and Christian Museum which gives you an insight into their history.
If you love the countryside, then we've got it all here for you - many fantastic walks, cycling (road and mountain biking) and rock climbing can be found in abundance here. Horse riding enthusiasts are well catered for as are the tranquility-seekers. For those a bit more adventurous you can enjoy hot air ballooning and microlighing both of which are fantastic ways to see the beautiful countryside.

Visiting the Covetes Dels Moros, is a fantastic way to spend an afternoon. This is a group of caves made up of around 50 rooms with holes like windows. It is thought these caves would have been formed around the 10th or 11th century. The original use of the caves is uncertain though there are various interpretations from granary stores to funeral chambers. Visit the tourist office in the town hall for further information!
If you enjoy a swim, Bocairent has its own pool (open June-September), or you can swim at Pou Clar, a local beauty spot with natural rock pools only 10 minutes away.
There are celebrations almost every month in Bocairent but the main fiestas are -
* January 'The Coming of the Three Kings',
* February the 'Moors and Christians' (renowned for being one of the best in the region)
* August is the 'Dances'.
