The region of Murcia is situated in the south east coast of Spain, bordering Alicante in the north and Andalucia in the south and has over 200 kms of coastline and a superb climate boasting 320 days of sunshine per year. The three main cities in Murcia are Murcia City, Cartagena and Lorca.
Mazarron / Lorca area
During Easter, Lorca town has a fabulous procession which is well worth visiting. There is also a splendid Visitors Centre surrounding Lorca Castle. During February the town of Aguilas has its fiesta over 2 weekends, again usually a spectacular show. Caravaca de la Cruz, about 1 hours drive away, is the 5th holiest city in the world and well worth a visit. Mazarron celebrates fiestas during November and December. The most unusual is 5 January when the Three Wise men 'park' their camels in order to enter the Port of Mazarron by boat. In Ramonete itself, August and early September see our local fiestas.
