The Mar Menor's warm shallow waters are renowned for their health giving properties due to the high mineral concentration. The mud from the Mar Menor is also said to be therapeutic for the skin and joints.

Just to the south of La Manga and the Mar Menor lies Calblanque regional park, a protected area of rocky mediterranean coastline which boasts quiet golden sandy beaches.
