La Union, an amalgamation of 4 small mining villages in the eighteenth century. is now a busy market town with many places of historical interest.

• Travel Info: Fly to either Murcia airport (San Javier) a 15 minute drive from La Union, or Alicante airport a further 45 minutes drive. Easyjet, Flyglobespan and Ryanair tend to fly to Alicante airport, while Jet 2.com fly to Murcia. A car is not strictly necessary, as La Union has a good bus and train service, however to take advantage of what the region has to offer a car is recommended. All major car hire firms operate from both airports and from Murcia airport to La Union the taxi fare should be under 30 euros.
